94 accord LX - D4 7 flashes - TCM? Flush tranny?
Hi all, did some searches but no help on my issue.
Picked up a 94 LX in need of a tranny - perfect for me since I have my 95 Ody tranny left over from my JDM motor/tranny swap. Tranny will not shift into reverse and speed is limited. Code is 7 flashes of D4.
Anyway, I decided to do some troubleshooting before jumping right to the tranny swap out. i located a bad wire from the TCM (#5) to the shift control solenoid. I pulled a new wire since I could not tell where it was broken (some where between TCM and engine harness connection). This fixed the immediate D4 - 7 flashes issue. Started up car and shifted through the gears, still no reverse and D4 returns. Rechecked code - 7 flashes again. Replaced shift control solenoid - makes a little noise when switching to rev but still no reverse. Manual says TCM but I thought a full tranny fluid flush might help since it looked pretty dark doing the standard 2.5 quart swap.
Any opinions - TCM or tranny flush? Thanks.

You might need a new TCM. Im have somewhat of the same prob. and I talked to honda they say w/ some of the older accords the TCM gose bad over time. That MIGHT fix ur prob. An that coming out of the mouth mechanic of my local honda dealer.
Im geting the same prob. w/ D4 flashing and the code is 07. 7 flashes. But I havent lost my reverse tho. But I do get where I am in gear an it will just bog down and have no power. Also I was told is could be a short in the solenoid or the solenoid could just be bad.
Also you CANT do a flush on a honda auto tranny.
The only thing your suposta do it drain, refill, drive 10-20 milles and repeat 3-5 times to TRY to get out all of the fluid. Wich you will only get about 80% of the fluid out.
