ok the other night i was driving the cars clock and gauge cluster started going dimm and clock was blinking!! it cought my eye!

neways i was driving and then car shut off! i sat on the road for a few mins and then restarted and car started up and i got it home! now the car WONT START! i turn the key and it goes to start and putters and shuts off! i checked for spark its geting spark like i said motor trys to turn over!! so i check main relay and got a new one and same prob! i checked battery and its fine and cranks the car over! i know in the 88-00 civic and integras when u turn the key on u will hear the fuel pump prime and u hear the 2 clicks.. well i dont hear any fuel pump kicking on! and of course its a 91 accord so the fuel pump is in the tank not under the back seat! but the harness going into the tank is behind the back seat! i checked the conections for power and when we turn the key thier is no power to the plugs! thier is a all black which is ground! and yellow with white strip and a green with red strip! which one is power? idk i checked both and my light tester did not light up and yes i check the light on the light tester and it dose work! could it be the ecu went bad? or ignition? idk can someone please help me? this is my dads dd work car and i wanna help him try and fix it! thanks in advanced honda-tech.

you should be able to hear the fuel pump prime and the two clicks. If you don't hear it primming then something definitely wrong with the fuel pump. Either the pump its self or a wire or fuse

thank man! i deff cant hear it prime soo im guessing something with the fuel pump!

now its a 91 honda accord and through the sending uint under the back seat! which is the power wire? the yellow with white or the green with red strip?? i hooked a straight power from battery to both of em and the pump didnt go on! and i know the black is ground.. or does the sending unit not go to the pump? anyone can help with the wire diagram?

would a bad alternator keep my car from runing? like i go to start it i dont hear a prime of fuel pump and no injectors spraying.. would a bad alternator keep it from priming the fuel pump and stuff? the car cranks and wants to turn over but something is wrong and shuts right off well i know bc no fuel but can anyone help me? please i need to fix this for my dad

yea i can hear my pump prime in my 91 lx. your alternator could very well do that, so could a short. so could a number of problems. rip off the alternator and have it tested, go from there. or get a chilton or something and look in the electrical section to compare your wires with the diagram.

ya man! like i said the alternator was acting funny! like blinking clock light and dimm dashlights and just shut off! so im guessin if the alternator died the car wouldnt fire up! but can the alternator keep the pump from priming and stuff?

Check the most simplest KNOWN bad part for that year Honda. It is called fuel main relay and is a grey/red box located above the brake pedal near your cruise control box. If you have not tried that I would start there. Mine went bad same/similar symptoms as yours mine is 90.

Test the Ignition switch for proper operation. Known problem with accords.

would a bad ignition switch cause the clock to blink and cluster to dim surge kinda like! and would it keep the car from fully cranking over and like no fuel pump prime?

hey EVERYONE i fixed the problem it was the ignition switch and harness! went to junkyard got one off another 91 accord and it started right up! thanks everyone for thier help

hey everyone im back hopfuly one last time!


i get code 15 which is ignition output signal! now how or what can be making this cell go on?

the car starts right up and drives fine! im confused! what the prob might be

i even reset the ecu and the code is being thrown! also code 17 vss but the vss is working? its odd can anyone please help me?
