Heater Hose 91 Accord WTF!
What the heck is going on?! Just need to replace the foot and a half of heater hose from the block (under the dizzy) to the heater connection at the firewall. Got brand new hose and brand new clamps, cut the old out installed new and can't get the new to seal.....it still drips!!!! WTF!
Am I over looking the obvious?

Is the connection that the hose goes over damaged or bent? Not sure why it wouldn't seal unless the hose is too big or what the hose goes over is bent or otherwise damaged in some way.

Re: Heater Hose 91 Accord WTF! (TouringAccord)
Thats what I'm saying TouringAccord. It should seal. Each of the ends (at the block & the firewall) are all well intact clean, smooth, and w/o cracks. As far as I know the ID of the hose is 5/8". Two autoparts stores here and on-line sales have it listed at 5/8".
Maybe I'm not tightening down hard enough on the clamps? I don't want to go to tight and maybe have the clamp tear into the hose and leak or break while I'm tightening and the heater hose turn into a HOT supersoaker drenching myself and everything around me.
Could 4 sources be telling me the wrong ID of the hose?
Thanks for input tho I didn't think I was overlooking anything.

I don't know the ID of the hose so I can't tell you if they are right or not. Is the hose snug when going on? It should be snug to start with. I wouldn't worry about the clamp damaging the hose, as long as it's all installed properly, the clamp wont damage the hose causing it to leak.

Well it does make a noticable suction 'pop' when you pull it off the housing especially the outlet on the engine side.
As far as clamping to hard I think thats what got me in this situation to begin with. I think I clamped down to hard on the original hose and put a hole in the hose under the clamp itself.
This is entirely to easy of a job to make hard....

thats for sure, I just don't get why it's still leaking.

yes, those heater core tubes can be damaged or marred very easily, maybe its been slightly bent out of a circular shape, i'd check that if you are still leaking

Thanks all for the input and I was right it was something stupid.
First off was the 2 brand new clamps I purchased one was defective. When I was tightening the one it was stopping so I assumed it was as tight as it could be, didn't relize on the band it was hitting a damaged hole and stopping and wasn't tightening at all.
The other end of the hose was the heater side connection. Its plastic and closer inspection and by that I mean accident I noticed it had the smallest crack which adding pressure from the clamp only made it worse. So that had to be sealed and sanded smooth, finally after a had full of hours and bitching its complete and working which has lead me to my other post on the idling....
Still not sure why I'm doing all this for a vehicle thats 16yrs old?
Thanks though again for the comments.
