2001 Honda Accord VTec,V6,check engine light went off
Hi bros,I've got a honda accord v6,just bought them online(local),after that when i brought the car to have an emission text, but it's been failed, because of the check engine light did not pop up for a few seconds before it goes off as usual,so i had a mechanic who said that he could make it pass the emission, and he did,my car has passed, but the problem still there, there's no check engine light every time i start the key....and he said if I wanted to keep the car, next year i'll have him to do the check smoke again. So,i'm really in love with Honda Accord, and this is my 4th Honda Accord, also a newest one since.I don't know much about car, everytime my car's broken down,I have to have it fixed most of the time by a mechanic...
I hope someone 's here can help me to solve this matter, you can give me an advice,my texting number 520)254 6568.I'm very very appriciated!

Is the car running fine?
Perhaps the light somehow is burned out on the dash. I don't know anything about the V6's but first thing I would try to do is to short the connector to get the check engine light on to see if maybe the light on the dashboard is burned out. I guess worst case scenerio is that the ecu is bad which for your car would be hard to find one. From the dealer it's like 600 or so from majestic honda.

Thank you bro,the car running okay,I just hope it's as you thought about the burning bulb, but if the bulb was burnt out,how could the mechanic not tell me,or he could not replace it?!?!?And the second thing you metioned about the ECU,which indicates to show that it is bad? Thanks for your help, bro, you have a nice Easter day!

If it's just a smog check place, some are able to fix problems, while some aren't.
Hopefully someone can chime in on how to retrieve codes for your car. Then you can just check and see if the check engine light will come on.
Also, there are places that supposedly will fix an ecu for a fee. Again, hopefully someone can chime in on that if someone has used one.

When you turn the key to position II (on, not start just on) does the CEL come on for a few seconds and go off?
Some places check codes for free, have it scanned. Are there any stored codes?
What are the answers to these two questions.

The CEL did not come at all, that's the main reason brought me here, bro! As I know,if there's no stored code = bad ecu,is it right, bro?Thank you for your time...

No, I'm going for a bad bulb........replace the bulb before going any further.

poorman do you know how he checks the codes. I'm thinking if he can safely get the light to come on by simulating manual retrieval of codes it would rule out a bulb failure.

Key to on, is a bulb check....so If the Op turns the key there and the bulb does not come on...start with replacing the bulb. Then worry about codes, but the op said there are not any stored codes. So I can only assume,,,,,,the failure at the smog place is due to the bulb check............

it'd running fine, bro.Even sometime it shakes a little when stop at red light, just a little bit,the mechannic told me that I have to have it replaced the motor mounts, and I just found out that the reason why the CEL went off,but not sure it's exactly the problem there,1,it's maybe about the bad grounds, but im not an expert to locate all of the grounds,2nd,maybe a bad ECU....It'll cost me more money when I can afford for...Thank you for asking, bro!

Even at the Emission test station, the guy did the test on my car,he just said "maybe" the bulb was burnt out...I would like to know if he knew clearly than me with his tool, but why he said that...Thank you, bro!
Ill try to get the bulb replaced when I can...
