h22 and f20b swap question
this topic has been discussed before i bet, but i have researched everywhere and i cant seem to find the straight answer, hopefully you guys can help....if i were to do an h22 or f20b swap in my 97 accord, i keep hearing that its best to get the same year of engine as your car. Lets say i go for f20b swap, its the little brother of h22, the engine is 97 or higher which means obd2 same as my 97 accord. i know if i use my accord harness i would have to modify it for those extra wires, but if i use the h22 harness for either the f20b or h22a, will it be a plug and play making it easier? the ecu will have similarities due to year, i always find topics regarding the need to modify the accord harness. So will it be easier, plug and play for my accord? thnx for taking the time and hope you all respond and help. as i am getting closer to buying an engine, mostly the f20b.

Re: h22 and f20b swap question
ok ive done alot of research and found nothing so i had to do this swap on my own and using my automotive knowledge to get it goin, i swapped an 99 f20b into my 94 and it runs supremely, basically you could just have rywire make your harness which it the easiest but not cheapest but dont tell him its for an f20b, tell him its for an h22, they wire up the same way, ive had both engines and would take the f20b hands down, 1 cause not a huge hp and tq differ, 2 depending on where you look alot cheaper, i got mine from jdmenginezone.com for 500 bucks but i also picked it up personnally, but the h22 is like 1000 bucks on up. now to answer your question, you can get away with any obd2 eng but be aware there is obd2A and obd2B which i had found out so i had to purchase the obd2A to obd2B conversion harness for 75 bucks from rywire, so 97 is obd2A and 98 on up is obd2A, big issue when messin with the ecu's, also keep in mind the f20b came out of the cf4 chassis which had electric steering, non power, so you will have to modify the stock p/s pump bracket and space it out to fit on the front of the eng and get a longer belt. thats just the cheapest thing i did considering what i had at hand. o and also with the f20b you dont have to modify the driverside mount it bolts directly up unlike the h22. your also gonna have to wire up the distributor a bit differently, i would go into more detail if you really need it , ask me if you need anything else. i just figured id let you know the little here and theres you will bump into during this build/swap.

Re: h22 and f20b swap question
awesome thanks alot for the info!!!! big help! another good thing is that you did the swap yourself. the reason why im going for the f20b is also because its cheaper and almost the same price as the f22b1 vtec. so might as well right?, i also heard it revs higher, and its rare. only sold in japan. so to get the wiring straight, seriously my head turns into a pretzel thinking about but if i dont go for rywire, what other option can i do to get her done?, thnx alot!
