Default 1997 honda accord idles too high

Ok I posted a while back about my Honda. It was a cracked hose, not water pump or head gasket. Anyway, the car idles at 1500 when it should be around 700. When you turn on the AC, the car cuts off. When you rev the car up to 3000rmp and turn the AC on, the car runs normal. Can anyone help me figure out why the car is idling too high? Also, the cadillac converter glows. Anybody ever experience that before?

Try cleaning out your throttle body and IAC. If that doesn't help, replace the IAC.

If your cadillac converter glows it may be that it is just about clogged up completely, I would check it out and think about replacing it.

catalytic converter, please, catalytic converter...

First step I would take is take out that catalytic converter, look at it, it seems like it's very clogged up.

Then, take off your intake, where it connects to the throttle body, make sure everything in there is nice and clean.

After that, as Escobar said, clean IAC, and maybe even replace it.

Idle has nothing to do with your converter.

I know that. There are two seperate problems I'm having, the converter is glowing and my car idles too high when you turn it on and cuts off if I turn the ac on.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll pass them along to my uncle and he can fix it from there.

IAC and map sensor have already been replaced, also removed and cleaned intake. Car idles at 1200 rpm and dies when a/c is turned on. Is there somthing else that can be checked or adjusted?

mmmm as far as car dying with a/c on you don't have a locked up a/c compressor ?? i have seen a frw cars with bad a/c compressors (locking up ) and killing car when a/c is engaged..
as far as idle goes,,i am sure you got trhottle cable adjusted properly ,and the mixture screw is not almost all the way out .. chk engine lite blinking ?? now when you adjust idle you have the iac disconnected right?? and when done plug back in and clear computer right ??

My 97 accord was getting poor gas mileage, and was hesitating when I would step on the gas. So, I would let up off of the gas pedal, and then the car would take off. I was told that my throttle position sensor was bad, and should be replaced. So, I replaced the TPS, and cleaned throttle body, and now my car idles at 2200 rpms. Does anyone know why my throttle went up this high? Does my tps need adjusted?
