1991 Honda Accord Gas Smell
I have a 1991 Honda Accord with a gas smell inside the car when you are driving it. The smell seems to be on the left passenger side. It is worse if the gas tank is full but still there when the tank is almost empty. When you stop the car you cannot smell gas on the outside but you can smell it on the inside.
The only exception to this is when the car is parked in a closed garage.
There is no visible signs of leakage and the injectors and the fuel rail are not leaking.
Anyone have any idea what this could be?
Thanks

Re: 1991 Honda Accord Gas Smell (Batchs)
Must be too many beans
J/K, there is an "access" panel under the back seat, pull it up and check to see if any fumes/leaks are occurring there. And I woulddn't advise using a match for lighting purposes...

I have the exact same problem with my 91. My honda tech lifted the car and showed me a connection that often fails on the accord. It is located underneath a plastic cover under the car just in front of the rear drivers side wheel. It is a connection from the fuel line to another banjo fitting which mounts to the frame of the car. It is leaking to the point that there is gas around the corroded line but none going onto the ground. He said that it is on the high pressure part of the system. He also said that it would cost approximately $375 for him to fix the part by cutting the good part off of a new line and using a compression fitting to splice into the system. He also said that eventually if i didn't get it fixed it would drip onto the ground, then break, and the car would spew gas and be undrivable.

In addition to being baffling, this also sounds scary. There was once a TV program about some guy who got poisoning through gases in his car. Anyways, it lead to him behaving abnormally and he flipped out and disappeared one day.

well it might be that line. but u can change the whole gas line with a little time in ur hands. other that that there might a a cloged injectors. they do bring the gas smell when they don't work well. specially if u have ur a/c on. and check the lines on the fuel filter. sometimes they are not tight enough and will leak.
