hi

i have a 1986 accord LXi with 321K miles on it. about a few months a go, my brake master cylinder went south, so replaced it with a remanufactured one from local auto store. after that, the brake went really hard to press. i took it to a mechanic, and he said that the brake booster is also bad, so paid him $256 to replace it (labor+parts). when i got it back, the car keeps braking while running, so it was really hard to accelerate, so i took it back, and he said the master cylinder was bad, so i bought original honda parts, and the brake still on, except this time it was not as bad, but you can still feel it. i can not drive long distance now, i'm afraid that the brake will over head and blow up or something. anything that i should do to fix it my self, maybe bleed the system or something? any suggestion would be great. thanks for reading

caliper rebuild? and any mechanic worth a **** will spend some diagnostic time to find the ACTUAL problem instead of just throwing parts at it until it works.

I would recommend you to buy honda remanufacutred calipers - http://www.hondaautomotivepart...y.jsp, while there, order new rubber hoses for both sides. Rubber hoses get old after some time and may block fluids from going back to master cylinder, causing locked calipers.

I had similiar problem and I went down replacing calipers, hoses and master cylinder and it is acting like new now. Also be sure to flush brake fluids afterwards.

(And fire that mechanic.)

jesus, i spend $400 for nothing, oh well. i'll try to do them this weekend. i'll keep you guys updated.

it could be the line as well... this happened to my moms old van we thought it was the caliper so we bought areman an dhtought it was bad untill we replace the line.... it had a tear ont he inside that wouldnt let the fluid return

how hard is it to change the calipers and the rubber hose/lines. i will try to do this in my garage, i was thinking about buying haynes guide book to help me clarify some things, what do you guys think?

other than the softlines and calipers, any other?

ok guys.

here's the update

so far i have changed the followong

brake booster
master cylinder
softlines
calipers
brake pads

well, here's the problem.

the first 10 minutes of driving, everything went smooth. the car ran super fine.

after i let idle for about 5 minutes, i tested it again. only this time, the brake is on again. it did not lock yet, but i can feel it. i know after sometime it is only gonna get worse.

can it be the booster?

because my mechanic installed the booster, and as soon as his installed it, this problem occured.

please HELP me........

nope, not yet. i'll try to do them myself this weekend. see what happens. 'll have hatnes manual to guide me though
