06 Accord gone into auto-shutdown self secure wont start
Posting this up for a friend...
its an 06 Accord 4cylnder "speacil edition" 4dr. Short terms: car doesn't start.
When opening door, guages light up and interiors come on. Put key into ignition, turn, nothing, theres no radio or exterior lights, but interiors and all work. No clicking. nothing.
Removing fuses to ignition, would this cuase it not have any power to ignition?
So has my car gone into a saftey shut down mode or soemthing? Or is it simply the system needs a reset by disconnecting the battery? Step dad used car earlier so he prob set soemthing up..
TIA

First : replace all the fuse i don't care if its the clock all brand new
Second : Check the battery take it out, Check the fluid in it( if needed gust water will do fine), get a volt meter check and see if its 12.6 or above that. If below 12.6 it needs to be a charge and after let it sit for a hour and check it again.
And if all that dose nothing call the dealer.
Good Luck

It's pretty stupid to replace fuses that are good. Just find the bad/ missing ones then go from there...

Well you know its really not because, it may look fine but the it maybe bad. So ok don't replace all of them but check them and make sure that there are good.

I realize that you are saying that you put the key in, but just to be sure it's not in D or any gear besides Park or Neutral is it? Also the instruments should not come on unless the lights have been left on, and if that's the case could just be a dead battery and DO NOT ADD WATER to a maintenace free batter. Had a friend "help' me out a few years ago by adding water to a mainteannce free battery and there was battery acid boiling out of it by the time I got home from Georgia to Jersey. BAD idea.

Sorry, i for got to put that part in. If the battery is dead, take it some where and get it replace. You know if you run a battery till it has no voltage at all not even a Milli volt, You can drink the fluid out of it and you'll be fine. Because all it is, is water because all of the electrolytes has bean absoded by the metal plates inside the battery.

he probably put the wrong key in the ignition and tried to start it.....it's a theft deterrent.....you have to get it towed to Honda and have them fix it.

sounds more like that. His step dad used the car before hand, so i was thinking more of the lines he used one key, then tried usuing the other key and it went into lockup? I know Audi/VW is like that.
Thanks for the replies , even tho he wont really know how to test fuses with out right tools, or even relize which one would be missing

all you need to do is use the right key then. there is no lockdown feature in that accord.
Is the green key light flashing when you try to start it?

Nice hypothetical, but in other realities the plates can calcify and resist any more reaction with acid and still have acidic fluid. Would not suggest even such a hypo. to be able to drink remaining fluid. I know you weren't serious!
