Turbo losing power at higher RPM?
Ok so I have a stock b16 with an inline pro turbo kit I had purchased used. The turbo I got with it is a Precision gt3255b turbo. .48ex and .60 comp. My question is this setup was on my b20 before I got the b16 and it seemed ~6.5-7k I can feel the car kinda lose power so I just shifted and went about it...The b16 does the same thing..Is the exhaust side too small for the higher RPM's? I do have a rather restrictive exhaust (2 resonators and a stock style magnaflow muffler). Would the exhaust cause this or the exhaust side of the turbo. Thanks in advance.

cambered mufflers kill flow unbolt it and go for a ride but if you dont have a wideband be carful letting more air out will make it leaner but i didnt the same thing on my turbo d16 had a camberd muffler so give that a try and get back to me.

Yeah I may have to because I ran it open downpipe prolly 2 times but I don't really remember is power fell off or not actually... FYI it's a 2.5 inch downpipe.

Re: Turbo losing power at higher RPM?
well .48 exhuast is pretty small for higher rpm so you will prolly feel it start to die off at the top... expecially in 3-4-5 gear pulls

Yeah I mostly felt it at top of 3rd def. someone suggested that the exhaust side would be too small...Maybe someone on here could help point me to someone that I can either send my turbo to to get the exhaust side upgraded...or would it just be better to just sell my currently turbo and get one with a .63 or .82? Which of the 2 would be better...on a stock b16 and slowly building the buttom end..Looking for ~400whp.

Re: Turbo losing power at higher RPM?
So would I just be better off just selling the turbo I have now and purchasing one with a .63 ex side? Or should I see if I can find someone to swap the exhaust housing/wheel?

Can I buy an exhaust housing with the wheel and do it myself? Or do I have to get the shaft rebalanced...which at that point I'd have a shop do the work for a peace of mind kinda thing.

Well I had just pulled the turbo off the turbo mani...found out it's a sc-4431E turbo...it's a 60 trim..could it still be the exhaust side holding me back?

Re: Turbo losing power at higher RPM?
i seriously doubt that a .48 a/r on a 60 trim is holding you back at 9psi. i would look into the exhaust. is the whole system 2.5"? has the car been dyno tuned where we can actually see power dropping off? unfortunately the "butt dyno" isnt always the most accurate tool.
