Default Competition Clutch installed...

My Exedy stage 1 clutch slipped at 308whp at the dyno so I just installed a new 6 puck CC Stage 4 sprung with UL Flywheel. The install went smooth but I just test drove it and I was having a hard time slipping the clutch to smoothly start from a stop. When I bought this clutch I was under the impression that you could smoothly start by slipping but it seems like it's an on/off clutch which is fine. I'm sure I can get used to it but I want to make sure everything is working the way it should. I'm also having trouble finding a good adjustment setting for the pedal. If anyone has any experience with this clutch or any advice please let me know.

all puck style clutches are harsh. don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

live with it or get the stage 3 kevlar full face disc from CC or CM.

Im not sure if it gets much better but I had the same thing goin on with my setup. It was a stage 4 cc and was pretty harsh. After a while I got used to it and could drive it real good in any circumstance

no its doesnt get any better....and slipping a puck clutch just slowly chews up the pressure place and flywheel

i got the same clutch just making over 300hp also. It doesnt start to engage smoothly once it is broken in but you get use to how it engages and disengage and you will start to engage and disengage the clutch better. I have had the clutch for about a year or so and it is as solid as it was the first time i drove my car after installing it. I wouldnt use any other clutch.

It's the sprung clutch, every time I start from a stop the tires chirp. I can't make it any smoother without the whole car shaking.

The pedal feel on mine is close to stock but the engagement is nothing like stock.

i've been driving on my stage3 full face kevlar CM clutch for quite some time. make 440whp+ and 300ft/lbs+. no slipping and smooth engagement.

as long as you don't plan to launch the thing hard off the line all the time there is no need for a ceramic puck type clutch. they are to harsh and will require replacement more frequently.

It DOES get better after a break-in period, but not a whole lot... I absolutely love my CC stg 4 and dont mind the occasional chatter. Just learn how to drive around it.

this. It DOES get better, but honestly I cant tell if its the clutch or me being able to drive it better. Im on a CCS5 4 puck sprung. I love it. I have a light flywheel as well. Pedal feel is very close to stock. Sometimes engagement can be a little rough but thats because im too noob at driving

I'm thinking about getting that disc and swapping it out. What pressure plate are you running. I will be running about 350whp and 240 tq. I'm just not looking forward to pulling the tranny again but I think it will be worth it. The disc is only $150. I wish I had got the Spec stage 3+, that looks perfect.

LSD dragger clutch with street disk. Held 290whp and it engages like stock, just a little heavyer pedal. But man its nice. It still grabs great. Was barking my drag rads in 3rd na with only 130whp.

I got the CC stg4 and its a little rough unless you take off wit a bit more rpm. Driving isnt bad, parking can be a bit more of a pain lol

I've got an ACT HDSS full disk in my integra and a XTG6 6 puck in the civic. The HDSS is alot more forgiving and easier to drive. The civic requires some finessing, but alot of it has to do with the super lopey cams which make nothing for power below 1500 rpm.

Other then that the pedal pressure is perfect IMO.

So I guess it's all about higher rpms and a quicker release. I will give it a serious shot but I may end up changing. It seems like slowly rolling up hill in traffic will be impossible.

It gets a little better after break in but a puck clutch is anpuck clutch. Best way to drive one is when starting off tap throttle to bring revs up and let the clutch out quicker than normal this will reduce the chatte in first gear. You will figure it out after a while. If you want to play wih bigger power then you have to make sacrafices. I personally drive a comp stage 5 unsprung and it's like driving a stock clutch to me because I'm used to it
