Pit Canopy
Does anybody know where I can purchase a 10x10 canopy for use at the track? I know like Walmart sales them but I was wanting one with like an aftermarket company's logo on it. I know that may sound lame but any promo on my part can always help down the road from a company...

Re: Pit Canopy
The higher end canopies(Blank) 10x10 an run about $500-600. with a custom logo on it, those can get up to $1000 easily. good luck on someone handing you over a $1000 canopy.

Re: Pit Canopy
yea you can get the cheap jegs one, but when it blows over and takes some paint off your car with it, you wont be happy.
im sure some guys here remember 2008 BOTI at ATCO when we had the damm tornado? that tested mostof of the cheap tent and showed them an early grave lol

I used the Wal-Mart ones (First-Up). All the other ones fade and get torn up just the same so why not. $75 each and I have bought expensive ones that suck.

Re: Pit Canopy
unless you are spending money to have your logo put on one i consider the tents a disposable item, lol
i could get about a year out of one before it needed to be replaced -- i have been buying the ones from sports authority, the 10'x10' or 12'x12' you can generally get for $80-100
the authentic EZ up's are very nice, in the $250-300 price range if i recall correctly

Re: Pit Canopy
Thanks for all of the helpful insight! I didnt realize what I was truly getting into. From what I gather, either buy a cheap one and use it for what it is or buy an expensive one and lose money when it blows away...lol
Too bad my unit doesnt have any GP tents laying around...

Re: Pit Canopy
man theres nothing wrong w/ the 10x10 ez up tents from sports authority...
i got a couple on sale for like 60 bucks each and bungee cord them together, they work great and if they ever break they are cheap to replace.
i was in the atco hurricane lol and my old ez up tent was destroyed (Jake got a good pic of it haha) but i doubt any tent would have held up in that situation.
it prolly would have been fine if i hadnt steaked it into the ground lol

I have used an EZ tent now for almost 7 years with no problems. The best way to keep them from blowing away is putting 20lb. weights on each of the legs

Re: Pit Canopy
We just weigh down all the corners with concrete filled coffee cans and put wood on the outside to make it look nice. I dont know why anyone wouldnt secure it somehow. but then again we arent covering up cars. Go karts take a little more abuse.

Re: Pit Canopy
I got mine at Home Depot, it was $90 but i wish i sprung for the $200 one because it was leaking at the NSCRA finale when we got doused.
Best thing to hold em down are 5 gallons buckets filled with concrete, i'm gonna make a couple for this season as using spare tires and tool bags don't work as well.

Our 2 12x12's from Sports Authority survived ATCO 2008 just fine. We learned from Etown May 07 that you need to hold them down really well. Our 3rd one went for a ride about 1:30AM during the wind storm. About 2AM we took down one of those 20ft white one's with the slip fit pipes, that the wind had move out from between two trailers.
I like the 12x12's gives you more coverage for a few more dollars. We also have the side canopies to block the wind when it's cold. They worked well at Epping one Oct.
