Thoughts on Battle of the Imports 2008
I just got off the phone with Frank @ Battle. I spent 45 minutes chatting with him about his series and the direction of Sport Compact drag racing. I have to say I am very impressed with the things that he has planned and IF everything comes together it would be a true National series with appropriate media coverage. NHRA "sanctioned" or not it has the potential to blow anything we have seen over the past few years out of the water, I now understand why the Bergenholtz's said to wait and see what both have to offer before choosing to back any single series ... Stay Tuned!
In any case, WE as racers have to thank NOPI for putting together a series for Sport Compact Drag Racing. Choice is never a bad thing and I wish them all success even IF I end up running a different series.

That is a long time ago, look at the class Time lol. Did you think you would be going 9's back then.

Back then....the fastest times were high 12's.....
I believe it was Myles Bautista......old school CRX......along with Junior Asper - Redline Racing......and Archie Madrazo...sp?....Split Second Racing...
There was no such thing as 9's back then in a Honda.......are you kidding??.....but what you don't understand....was that Palmdale ran slower because of the elevation....so in reality....I was hitting high 14's back then.

Man you need to check for some hair loss with how old that trophy is Good **** man good ****!!
After talking to Frank on the phone last night I can say things are really looking good for BOTI next season! Man I can't wait now!! Alot of the things that racers were wanting are going to be getting it. Now Frank Can't sugar coat it, but he is doing the best he can, and we have to respect that from Frank! Frank is busting his tail day and night to get everything squared away for the 2008 season.
Huge thanks to Frank at BOTI for looking after us racers. I love the fact that Frank is in it for the racers and not for his own pocket, very stand up guy and will take the time to talk to anyone any time. That man has more patience then I do thats for sure!

Re: (RPRacing)
A true NATIONAL series is a series that would go to the east and the west. We know NOPI isnt that, but will BOTI be that? Its going to take an amazing package for ALL racers for BOTI to be that. What does BOTI have to offer?
I have to hand it to frank tho, he never got involved in the anti-nopi/nhra posts in years past. He didnt have a lot of people at some of his races but just kept doing his thing. He didnt do it for the "business" side of things but for the love of the racers and sport.

This is very true,Felix and i were talking about that the other day.
From what im hearing ("Rumors") they are trying to secure 4 in the west and 4 in the east..Im just hoping this doesnt create alot of diversity between the racers(that actually race and travel) and the 2 series like in the past.

not sure where you are from but over here there were a LOT more people and racers at all the BOTI events than at any NHRA event here... and sorry NOPI doesnt exist here and hasn't for years so i can't compare it....
i just hope BOTI doesnt turn into some media freaky NOPI style racing.. i watched about 25 minutes of nopi tv yesterday and didnt see one race.. i saw jello wrestling, the xbox tent, people walking around, bikini contest, and interview with a model, then the show ended leaving me with a sickening feeling that i will never recover those wasted 25 minutes of my life.
i really hope that BOTI doesnt change... ]
its great the way it is!! grassroots racing all the way!!

Re: (bergenholtzracing)
Looking forward to the Battle schedule and any changes in the classes.
I see a great success in the BOTI series if things were stepped up a bit in how the events were run. Not that it wasnt good or anything, but more on a level that can attract bigger sponsors, manufacturers, etc.
Like I said in the past, if you are interested Frank, we will participate in contingencies on certain classes. Just let me know when and how.
