Re: my 1980 Civic Turbo GSR swap... now with paint!
I had a 83 S for a while and dreamed of doing exactly what you are doing, minus the GSR but rather a B16. Looks like an amazing car even before you started into it. Keep up the good work!

I would have made those motor mount brackets a little more beefy with that turbo setup. Looks great though!

Nice work mate! Are you trying to reinforce the frontend with those supports behind the fenders? I can only see them being attached to the A pillars though.

yes. They lay flat against the chassis behind the shock towers and they are welded in place. It's hard to see the weld in the pics. I figured while I'm cutting and welding, I may as well beef up some things. I don't know entirely how effective it will be, but it certainly won't hurt.

I think the turbo is going to result in the car turning into a bit of a cruise missile, but 3 psi wastegate spring + boost controller should let you have your cake and eat it, too.
Very well played, sir.

I don't know if you're on the west side of the mountains or if you're planning on tuning it yourself, but I'd love to offer my services on this one. Would love to check it out and help you get it tuned.

Wow
Thanks for all of the comments! Sorry for no updates in a while. Been working hard on her and will be doing more updates very soon!
Dave - I am in fact in western wa. and would love to get an experienced tuner to help on this. The car should be running very soon. Let's keep in touch.

Interesting...
Will the weld be strong enough to handle? I attempt-finished this on the same year model hatch and all mount broke off. I am not proud of it and not posting it.
I just don't understand why it does not work on my hatch. Pist off-after strip it down-painted-reassemble-then fail.
I will do another attempt after yours. gl .

Sorry to hear that!
I'm pretty confident in the mounts, the plate is pretty thick, the mounts go clear through the frame and they are welded inside and out, but maybe I should go back and truss them just to be on the safe side.
I would be really disappointed if the motor fell out and ruined the car after I've put about 400+ hours into this thing!
Thanks for sharing some of your experience.
