1988 Honda Accord LXI - Where is the OBD port?
Hello,
I just got a used Honda Accord LXI. My "check engine" light went on, so I'd like to plug in this "OBD scanner" that my step-dad has.
The problem is we've looked under the steering wheel, behind the ashtray, and behind the glovebox, and have not been able to locate the "OBD port" to plug the scanner into.
Does anyone happen to know where the OBD port is on a 1988 Honda Accord LXI?
Thanks for your time,
Christopher

If im reading it Correctly it should be Located under the Driver Seat, Move it all the way to the Front and there should be a plastic box with a little window type pop out and that should be it....trying to find a pic, if i do i will post it.

OK. I moved the seat all the way forward. Then I found a little box under the seat, I had to really reach under it to find it. Then I popped open a little plastic cover and inside I saw another little box and it had a little plastic window about 1/2 an inch wide and tall. There was a red electronic component behind the window. (dunno what it was)
I definitely found something, but haven't found anywhere to plug in the OBD scanner!
Will keep you posted if I find it; in the meantime I'll keep checking under the chair and fiddling with the box.

You can't use a scanner. You jump something on the ecu and read the flashes of the light. "old skool style y0"

There is no such thing as a Diagnostic port until you get to 92 and newer Honda's, and even then the 92-95 isn't usable by any normal scanner Ive ever seen so really its 96 and newer.
The 88 Accord LXi is OBD0, PGMFI. The ecu has either a single LED or a set of 4 LEDs depending on how they blink or how they light up you can decipher the code.
It should, SHOULD be the 88-91 style that blinks Morris code, long blinks are first digits, short blinks are 2nd digits or single digits.

But theres a possibility it could be the 84-87 style that has 4 LEDs that represent numbers, depending on which ones are added up you can find a table that shows the codes.
