Re: What car alarm to get??? Too many to choose
It's not like the expensive alarms let your car fly or anything, they just have more complete feature sets, longer range, things like that. The lower-end models are going to be more picking-and-choosing from available features. Do you want 1 mi. range AND anti-carjacking? You'll have to pay more. Just go to the brand websites that were recommended to you and make an Excel list comparing features. Besides like I said you can get a $600 alarm for $200 if you know where to look. So the question is really not very important.

You can hit a button and it will start your car. It can also do things like:
- turn your car off automatically a certain amount of time after you get out (turbo timer)
- warm your car up to a pre-set internal temperature
- start your car periodically if you are out of town
The alarm stays armed during all of this, fortunately. If you have a manual you MUST have it in neutral or bad things can happen. It's most useful in automatics. I did not decide to use that feature as I like to leave my car in gear while parked and it is not a chance I am willing to take.
