Odometer & Speedometer busted
ok so my issue is that my old cluster speedo is wacked out, it bounces up and down as i drive. I got a new cluster, with a tach From a 95 EX, however the mileage is not accurate I wanted to keep the same mileage.
I swaped the Circuit Board and the Needle Assembly into the old odometer unit. And now neither the speedometer nor the trip meter works as if there is no power to them. I swapped the original circuit board and needle assembly back into the original piece and still nothing.

I read something somewhere about a wire with the vss shorting to ground causing speedo and odometer failure, also, parasitic drain on the battery. Has your battery been dying also? Ill try to find the article I read, and give you a link... What year and model is your honda? Civic or accord ex?

95 Civic DX, i got a 95 civic EX cluster. You mean the battery of my CAR or the circuit? The battery is brand spankin new. I just checked all the circuits pins and tried again, the speedometer started at 30mph and worked for 10 seconds and so did the trip meter and then stopped again. After letting the car cool for a few minutes, I started again and same thing. WOrks for 10 seconds then dies.

I do have some good news.
I put everything back together, both clusters back with their own board and needles. The new cluster with 177,000 is now working except that the speedometer needle starts at 30mph and not 0..
