Alpine 7998. Does it fit in an EG?
I've got a 93 EX, and I was wondering if this HU would fit in the recessed opening? For those that don't know, it has the XL face which pops out like an indash lcd. Will there be enough room for it to open completely?
Thanks

It will fit. There is enough room for it to motorize out and
pop into position. If you ever see it in action its sweet.

I've seen them in action. Matter of fact, mine is on the way. $399 @ Crutchfield. I can't justify spending more on the 9835.

now you just need the Nokia 3650I or whatever the hell that one cell phone is... then get the Alpine AI-Net MobileLink hub adaptor jobbie, and plug that cell phone into that headunit. You can access your phone book, dial, etc from your radio!

Nice price. I paid 550 for the one I used to own in Dec 2002.

it does fit in an EG i had the same radio in my car a couple years ago back when that radio first came out.. all you need to do is get a trim spacer and install the spacer behind the radio sleeve.. i know you can get a 1/4" spacer from a GM metra radio kit (but i forgot the kit number) i know this cause i was an installer at circuit city for 3 years... also you can hold the eject button i think and have the radio come out about another half inch if it does it! that radio fits in an EG and looked DAMN good in mine!

no thats not the right kit.. it wont do what you want it to do..
See that trim ring in 2nd one back, you need a peice like that.. that kit is a metra 99-3009 i dont think tahts the same kit i got from work it was another kit.. if i still worked there i would go and look for you but i dont so its a little harder.. so basically you will need to get a trim piece like that, remove the radio sleeve, install the trim peice behind the sleeve, install the radio sleeve tight then install the radio like normal, its just pushes the dash out a little bit, its hardly noticable from lookin at the radio..

Already picked it up and installed it. Looks stock to me, although it still hits the dash

ummm... mine rested on the dash maybe depending on how i had it sitting.. but it did hit the dash or anything as it was coming up... how thick was the spacer you used???

Spacer was 1/4" at best. It was the one from the kit that we talked about. It's resting on the dash, nothing major. I'm going to leave it the way that it is for now though. I'll take some pics after exams.
