Re: Mr_ET's EJ8 project thread
Ok finally found some time to take the GSR bottom end apart to see how it was doing since it hydrolocked.
Nice rust lol
ok here it is
wait that doesn't look right..
no1 rod
everything else
Priority is a Recaro SRD seat and stainless brake lines and then I start rebuilding this thing.

Re: Mr_ET's EJ8 project thread
finally picked up a better seat.
This is a JDM Recaro SRD seat from an EK9 CTR. Big thanks to Will at Speedtech.
Needs a slight wash but it's in good shape aside from that.
Not actually dirty at the top I think it's how I took the pic
This is the second seat with the pass side ek9 rail on it. I'm holding it for Projekz, he has it for sale in the Marketplace for a good price.
Here is how the tires look after 2 track days and 200 kms of street driving
Here is the next project

Re: Mr_ET's EJ8 project thread
Some parts I picked up this weekend
obd2a to obd1 frog jumper harness
rear T bracket for a 94-01 manual integra
GSR connecting rods and pistons (will only use the rods but needed at least 1 since the only motor hydrolocked and bent a rod.)
New fuel filter for the civic as the old one look well... old and I don't know how long ago it was changed.
These are in great shape compared to the ones I have, much cleaner. One of them has spun a rod bearing, I will have my machine shop weigh them before the new RS Machines P30 pistons get pressed in so I can try and match 4 with the closest weight as possible.
this needs a good cleaning
Tomorrow I am buying a chipped P28 ECU and then I start buying parts for the motor and that is where all my focus will shift.

Re: Mr_ET's EJ8 project thread
Not many changes to the car for the past month aside from the engine build up but here are a few pictures and a fuzzy video from Sunday's lapping event at Stratotech park.
Just got back tonight from the timed event today and the car ran 1:10:486 which was more than 2.6 seconds faster than what I ran last time with the exact same setup.
We ran a chicane last time but others were only running about a second faster without it and I was almost flat out through the chicane last time so I am pretty satisfied with my time.
To give you guys an idea I was .1 seconds slower than a Cayman S and about .6 slower than an Elise on Hoosier R6 rubber. I was faster than RSX-S' and an 06 Civic Si with Kumho XS'

Re: Mr_ET's EJ8 project thread
There now that we're all caught up yes I know this is an EJ6 and if someone could correct the title I'd appreciate it
I ordered some RS Machine PR3 pistons for the bottom end a couple weeks ago and should have them shortly.
Don't know if it's writen above but the bottom end will look like this:
B18C1 block (overbore, decked, hot tanked)
Overbored to 81.5MM
New ITR water pump
New ITR oil pump
OEM bottom end gasket set
Crank micropolished
81.5MM RS Machine PR3 pistons
P72 GSR rods with ARP rod bolts
I should have it back in a couple weeks and will take some pictures of it all then.
I also picked up some b series stuff for the swap. I now have the shift linkage that came with a SOLO short shifter and I have a manual trans half shaft. I still need a throttle cable, engine post on the driver side and some axles.

Re: Mr_ET's EJ8 project thread
A few weekends ago I had another timed event
The rain made it very slippery on both days and the track unfortunatly claimed an RSX-S this morning as it spun and hit the passenger side door into the wall seperating the chicane and the front straight.
The car seemed to drive straight but had extensive body damage, I was marshalling that corner when it happened so that was quite an experience.
I can't wait for a better engine! Pistons should be here Monday morning and then the bottom end can be buttoned up pics of that once I get it back
Here is a vid from that weekend, My passenger was having a hard time staying in place lol.

Re: Mr_ET's EJ8 project thread
A few "New" parts.
These will need to be cleaned up but at least I have a transmission.
The clutch is an ACT stage one street clutch and a stock flywheel. It's not optimal but with the funds I currently have I may run it this season since it has some good meat left to it. It's a B16a2 model
It came with the following parts as well
Full EM1 wiring harness uncut
power steering from an EM1
axles and half shaft
also in the first pic you can see the A/C compressor, Dizzy and Alternator all from an EM1
I should have pics of the head up by Friday or Saturday
