I dont know anymore but i remember the exxon oil bottles looking exactly like the honda oil bottles. Im not sure if it said anything on there but i always assumed that it might be the same stuff with a honda logo on it. I know the exxon stuff was cheap, im not sure what the genuine honda stuff ran, i would imagine more than the exxon oil though.
I personally run Mobil 1 synthetic 10w-30. Not by choice just because of price and availability.

x2!
I have noticed that with built motors, at least on mine and a couple others that I have seen, the oil turns black pretty much right away after you run it, I dont think its worth spending $$ a quart on fancy oil if its just gonna get dirty right away, just the plain white bottle of Castrol works for me, just my $0.02. And to add something extra, I use the Napa Gold filter.

i switch around. When i dropped my new motor in it had penzoil platinum 5-30, than i ran mobil1 for 5k miles than i switched to Royal Purple for 10k miles and now im going back to Penzoil. I havent noticed anything better to each brand as far as power MPG's or consumption and noise so im gonna run the penzoil again and see
