but in order to get your 87mm youd have to sleeve anyway.....
might as well just use h22 block and sleeve it if your going to use the h22 crank and rods...

My argument is usually this:
If you plan on building a block, you might as well go with the H22A in the first place. That way, you'll have more displacement, high compression (from using higher compression forged pistons), and the lower R/S ratio doesn't mean much because the built block should be balanced and built strong anyways.
My only argument for people getting F20B is if you want a decent high-revving, good compression motor w/o having to dump money into building a block.

This is a bit off topic, but what about the f20a's? I'm looking into picking one up from a friend here real soon, although i'm not sure what f20a it is because i have'nt seen the engine yet. Are they a good or bad engine overall?

hmm, well would it be worth it to perchase one for 200 dollars that has only 30k miles on it? It would probably work out well to get that 88mm crank.

what year is the f20a... if i remember right they were from the 90-93 accords... which would mean they have the smaller 50mm mains.. would be interesting to see exactly what it is...

Re: (machine4321)
I don't know where you guys are getting these F20B's but I am more interested in taking an H22 that I can get for less than $1000 for the longblock and off-set grinding the crank to a B-series crank pin at 88mm stroke and using shelf Eagle rods at 5.862" and custom pistons at 1.05" compression height.
Benefits:
Cheaper than a $2500 F20B longblock
Better rod ratio (1.692)
Lighter than stock internals
Stronger than stock internals
Custom compression ratio
That leads to one hell of a relaible rev-happy engine for a fraction of the expense of a stock F20B. Take the money saved and sleeve the H22 to 89mm and then you have a 2.2liter with a little room to grow.
Some people will say that the really short pistons will lead to premature sleeve and ring failure but as long as you are going custom get longer skirts to prevent "walking" in the bore and the tall rod ratio should also lessen the sideloading that promotes that wear. As long as you talk to whatever piston manufacturer I am sure that they would work with you.
Sorry for the rant. But in some places I can get a freeking K20 for less money than an F20B swap and the prices never seem to go down despite the market shift.

Re: (PirateMcFred)
Just build a H22 with more compression and decent cams, the added torque will assist in walking all over the little 2.0
Who cares about r/s ratio's for NA?
Overall, torque wins races

Re: (PirateMcFred)
You will have to make those custom CAST pistons, because of the FRM sleeves of the H motor. I only know of one piston manufacturer that plans to make forged pistons that are compatible with FRM, but I can't say who that is.

Re: F20B specs? (JDogg)
old thread but whatever... is there alot of fabrication involved in a crx swap? cause i may be able to get a full swap for dirt cheap and i'm gonna need a new engine for my rex soon anyway.
