EF exhaust dilemma

EF exhaust dilemma
So, the set up is an EF hatch with a US spec type R block, P&P GSR head, 98+ JDM type R cams, 4-1 no name exhaust header, skunk2 IM and 68mm TB.
The plan is to get it tuned with a resonator and a dump pipe a foot or so past the drivers seat, for time trial/HPDE.
Now, the issue is I need an exhaust system for the street. I would really like to be 2.5"-2.75" so it doesn't get too rich from a tune with the dump pipe and yet is still a little quiet for around town. What I've been seeing for the EF is 60mm or 3", no inbetween. I've been looking at the buddy club spec II, but it has no muffler and I've seen a lot of question as to weather it is 60mm or 2.5". I could use the muffler from my old system. Does anybody know for sure what size it is. Maybe I haven't researched enough, does anyone know of a decent mandrel bent system within that sizing?

Re: EF exhaust dilemma
tune it with the dump and then bolt up the 60mm exhaust you want. it's not going to hurt or run "too" rich givin your very mild setup.
keep in mind i was at 400whp tuned with ecuout, with cutout closed, it was richer but nothing crazy which would foul out wideband, hurt motor.
btw 60mm full exhaust made over 240whp NA... so 60mm isn't restricitive as some people make it to be with NA application.

Re: EF exhaust dilemma
I swore I had seen a 70mm exhaust for the EF chassis. Seems it was just eBay stuff though. I cannot find a name brand in 70mm. 60mm is very common. Why not just run the 3" all the time though?
The DIY Mandrel kits are fine too. You can get 2.5" through them. You need your own muffler though. Also have to weld/assemble it yourself.
I was in the spot not too long ago. I was trying to 'save' some money by doing it myself. I budged and spent the $600-700 on the Thermal R&D 3" SS exhaust and never looked back. I can't tell you how impressed I am.

Re: EF exhaust dilemma
Fantastic answers! Looks like I'll consider the mandrelexhaustsystems option, or possibly just getting a new tanabe 60mm. Always loved the way it sounded. I don't want a 3" because of the noise I've heard it produces, the look of my hatch is not very "under the radar," so I at least have to try to keep the noise down.
Thanks all for the help.
