What is this noise?
Saturday Morning I got my tires rotated and balanced. Driving to the shop, everything was fine.
After the tires were rotated and balanced I got on the freeway and that's when I heard this noise.

It kicks in at 50mph+ and gets louder as I go faster.
I can only guess it was related to the tire rotation.

I went back to the tire store, the guy felt all four tires. He said they were feathered and that with more miles it might wear in.
My last alignment was last yr on this car, just in case I will take it in for another alignment.

Re: What is this noise?
Sounds like "cupped" tires. This is the result of either LACK of rotation or Struts that dont perform too well anymore,

Re: What is this noise?
Struts are ok, koni yellows installed a yr ago. A while back I had bad front lower ball joints, those got replaced. I can only guess the bad wearing happened when I had the bad ball joints. The dump sounds are from going over things, the constant noise is the noise I am referring to. Normally it is quiet in the cabin, that constant whirring noise is the issue. It gets louder with higher speed.

However I do get the feeling that nobody is really checking the right thing, I do hear click noises when I back up while turning the wheel.

Re: What is this noise?
A shop or DEALER wont recommend struts unless they are leaking. Or if the tech knows that the tires are cupped do to struts.

Re: What is this noise?
If there not directional tires cross rotate them left on right right on left. noise will be quiter if not gone. cupping can be caused by shocks but it can also be caused by alignment

Re: What is this noise?
I did have an alignment done 2 weeks after the rotation.
The toe was out of spec on front and rear driver side.
Tires are continental contact DWS, so non directional. I was able to take it for longer drives lately, after a while at 80mph or so it goes away, but it eventually returns. I can only guess it is tire noise.
