98 CRV EX rubbing sound while turning
Our CRV has around 80k miles on it and when we turn the wheel it will make this rubbing sound. From searches it seemed the culprit was the rear diff fluid so we went to the dealership and changed it but it still remains. The car doesnt even how to turn all the way to full lock to make the noise. The tech at honda said it was a common problem and the sound is from worn gears. is this true? anyone else have this problem?

Re: 98 CRV EX rubbing sound while turning (terrano)
I dont think a rear diff would make a rubbing noise when turning, more like a clunk. Do you have aftermarket wheels/tires that could be rubbing on the inside of the wheel well? How is your power-steering fluid level. I guess the p/s pump could be going out and making noise. Open the hood and have someone turn the wheel lock to lock and listen to the p/s pump. The p/s rack may be making the noise too. Good luck
