Default Air in cooling system

I have an 02 TL and I recently changed the coolant. I now seem to have air in the system and the temp gauge stays below the C, almost on the peg. I have tried to 'massage' the radiator hoses and did seem to get some air out. When it is idling in the garage (heater on 90deg and full fan) the gauge will get to normal then when I drive it, it drops down to the peg again. And when I get back home the top of the radiator is not even warm. It has plenty of coolant. It's getting cold here in the Indy area and my wife expects a car with a heater!! I'm stumped. Thank you.

Change the thermostat. Its not hard and not expensive. There is no reason why you would need to massage any hose. The minute the thermostat opens up all air will come out and coolant should go down from your reservoir.
