any JDM direct fit or JDM length high flow cats available for our cars?
Hi guys,
I searched a good deal of info on hi-flow cats within the last few weeks and my understanding is that many of you guys go the custom Carsound/Magnaflow cat route.
Amongst other stuff, on another site I read and re-read the article from SMSP regarding cats, but it dates from a few years back and while reading H-T, ITRCA and other sites, I've found that many have had some premature failure issues with some Carsound cats and it looks like even SMSP has changed models over time.
I'm looking to replace my OEM JDM cat with one that flows better.
I'm currently evaluating my options:
-test-pipe = absolutely not an option for me
-another used one, but in good condition, OEM JDM ITR cat: hard to find one that is not rusted all over or half clogged on the inside
-a brand new OEM JDM: even harder to get, very pricey and obviously flows less than an hi-flow cat but very reliable
-find a Carsound product that would be a direct fit for my application if it exists
-find a JDM brand high flow cat of some sort that is a direct fit
-last option if I have to: have a custom one made at a local shop based on a Carsound product, but which model should I get? many people give great reviews and some other have had a bad experience with'em, but nobody talk about what particular model they got so it can get a little confusing when reading posts...plus I don't really trust local places here so I'd prefer not having to bring down my car or even exhaust parts unless I really have to, so they can match the flages and all...
Here's some more info of what I'm currently running:
-Spoon Header, B-pipe+axleback, so a 12'' cat is needed
-the cat needs enough room to accomodate/add o2 bung for obdII
-car has to be able to run on the streets and pass emission.
-car sees track regularly.
Any imput is appreciated, please share your experience, good or bad.
Thanks!
