IPS racing which makes more.....
IPS racing which makes more power a Comptech ICE Box or a cold AEM filter ?
I have the AEM cold air filter, but now that K&N makes a stock replacement filter, I was thingk of getting it along with the ice box.
What do you think?

I know for a fact the foam is more restrictive than cotton, so i don't want the comptech filter.

I would go with the Comptech myself, IM Austin I believe he has the dyno sheet for a comparison between AEM, Comptech and stock

Hey IPS I also don't really like that dyno because it's from Comptech. So of course the dyno is going to favor Comptech.
And this guy Austin is from Northern California, and Comptech is in Northern Cali.

I was "that person" that dynoed the AEM vs Comptech and didn't redline the AEM. So I stopped 200 rpm shy...big deal! Look at the rest of the curve. My point in that dyno was to prove that the Comptech is very competitive with the AEM. I had an AEM and chose to change to a Comptech. My reason weren't perrformance realted at all. I chose it for sound quality, easy of service, fit & finish, and chance of hydrolock. If you own the AEM already and are happy with it...KEEP IT!

I got very good dyno results with the comptech, but if you've already got AEM, no reason to switch i don't think. Just a matter of personal preference really, one doesn't blow the other out of the water enough to justify a switch.

Hey Blktyer2001, how do you figure that the foam filter is more restictive than the K&N? From what I understand, the foam filter is less restrictive than the K&N.

Flux what do you want to know exactly?
The test a company performed showed that the K&N flowed the best, even a dirty K&N flowed better than a foam filter.

ummm. okay, whatever.
I just thought that if you had seen some study you could share more than what you did. Telling us that you saw a study by some un-named company doesn't help anybody.

Yes, you heard wrong. Foam flows better than cotton. Should be obvious, just look at the material. I know which company tested it also. Foam vs paper vs cotton. Foam flowed best.
Truth be told, the AEM and Icebox are very similar, both making good power overall, so either one should be fine. As stated if you have an AEM already, it won't make much of a difference.
