Default Yesterday's dyno run summary

A bunch of guys from around the way got together to do some runs. The shop was Extreme Performance in Bloomington, IN. Each person had to pay $50 for 3 runs with a little bit of time in b/w for quick & easy mods or tuning.

The cars and best runs (I don't remember all the numbers exactly or even completely accurately tho):

'95 Integra GS-R (mine) - 146.3 whp / 116.5 lb*ft (K&N RU-3130, DC 4-2-1 SS Header, Mozart Twin-Loop Muffler)
'01 Integra Type-R - 164whp / 119 lb*ft(Spoon foam filter)
'00 Integra Type-R - 178whp (AEM CAI, JDM ITR 4-1 Header, Spoon N1 Cat-Back)
'98? Eclipse GS-T - 177whp / 220 lb*ft (GReddy PE & Intake/BOV?, and misfiring all up and down the powerband)
'95 Civic del Sol Si (TD05-16G @ 5lbs) - 119whp (had quite a few problems with the wastegate and such)

The Spoon foam filter only gained 1whp from a stock paper filter w/ about 12k miles on it. It was still pretty clean. Ignition timing was set to 17 BTDC. Compression test showed somewhere around the 190's with a 185 low for one of the cylinders.

My car....
1st run: pulled 142whp and 111 lb*ft, ignition timing set at 16 BTDC
2nd run: took lid off of airbox - 142whp and 113 lb*ft
3rd run: airbox lid off w/ ignition timing set to 18 BTDC - 146whp and 116 lb*ft, and that was the 3rd run when the engine had been plenty hot

My car spews out a lot of soot after the 2ndaries open up...so much that the little kid there started to cough.
I checked the spark plugs (NGK BKR6E-11) the following day and the electrodes were kinda rounded off, and the arm electrode was pretty white, but the base of the spark plug was black with carbon deposits (but not caked on). Last time I changed my plugs was 19167 miles ago. Note: change copper core plugs every 15k miles (at least).

Just wanted people to see...comment away if you please.

Take off the power steering belt and get a CAI and you will be at mid 150's at least. I've seen it happen...GSR w/ 145 whp...put in an iceman intake, take off p/s belt and bam 157 whp, all within 1 hour hehe.

I like bigger numbers (who doesn't), but that's not for me. Parking on campus sometimes requires PS to make it so much easier...and with me running late to class half the time, I need every millisecond I can get. Thanks for the suggestion tho.

You'll probably get in the low to mid 150's with just the CAI.

I like my P/S belt on too. Much easier for daily driving.

You'll get use to no P/S. I felt the same way as you the first few days after I removed the P/S belt (many years ago). After a while it's no big deal at all. The trick is to start turning steering wheel after getting the car moving a little. It's much easier that way. You may even prefer manual steering if you give it time, it feels more sporty and not to mention good exercise too

I can get used to it pretty quickly b/c I've had to do it before when I drove an EG down from Detroit...it was actually quite fun. And, you're right about the workout...I had a sore left forearm for about a week after that fiasco.

I think I'll do it if I move to Dallas or Los Angeles/San Diego where there' more open stretch of road and more people to potentially race.
