Default Whiny (whistle-like sound) when I accelerate.

My car makes this whistle-like whiny sound when I step on the gas. But when I'm on neutral the sound goes away. I know for a fact its not coming from the engine. It could be the tranny? I got an LS tranny with about 210k on it. Any help would be nice. Thanks.

Could be aftermarket intake, or you could be hearing your fuel pump.

The OEM Integra throttle body whistles at partial opening within an RPM range. You can't hear it stock because of the plastic baffled intake box in the fender. This part is removed/bypassed with a CAI or short ram intake installed.

Gear whine is speed dependent, while TB whistle is load, throttle position, and RPM dependent.

I do have a short ram intake, but from what I hear I don't think its coming from there. Maybe I'll take off the intake and just put the filter where the throttle body is @? To troubleshoot? And if not that, its not the tranny? Thanks guys.

I don't think that would help you find the problem, perhaps switch to stock and see if the same thing happens. I'm willing to bet it's just your current intake.

I don't have the stock one anymore. And I highly doubt its my intake. But I will troubleshoot tomorrow morning, or at least try and trace it again.

Do you have a Subwoofer in the trunk? If a Amp is wired improporly, you will hear a whine through the speakers while accelerating. (Google: Alternater whine) - Just an idea. See if the noise is still there with your radio OFF.

Otherwise, I'm going with the SHort Ram. Put the stock box and resonator back on and troubleshot it.

I use to have a subwoofer, but I took it out. But I do have the wires running through the car. Don't know if that'll affect it.

Could be coming from the tranny.

That's what I was thinking, I hope not though.

when i changed my manifold to a skunk2, i get a whistle at a particular rpm, i still have stock gsr tb, and my buddies zc ef hatch does the exact thing. i tried eliminating by replacing all gaskets and severely cleaning the tb, but no fix. so either a tranny whining because its low on fluid or power steering
