Rear main seal question and few others.?
Hey back again. I know i been posting a lot lately, but just need info because im doing this like my 2nd time and no manual or anything.
Today i ordered the OEM rear main seal. And should be here tomorrow. So today i took off my clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel. And i got the rear main seal out.
1. So my question is do i put any RTV on the rear main seal? I heard people saying yes, and others no, opinions on this??
2. What is the point of this small hole on the crank?https://www.google.com/search?q=how+...72%3B800%3B599
3. Confused on the torque specs: Torque in steps: 19ft-lbs (228in-lbs), 38ft-lbs (456in-lbs), 57ft-lbs (684in-lbs), Then to 76ft-lbs (912in-lbs) (all B series)
4. What grease you use on throw out bearing? ( High temp, lithium, or anything will work fine?)
Wouldnt the bolts be torque close to 200 ft -lbs? Never understood why you have to torque in steps. ( i added all the numbers together)
And are those torque specs corrrect?? 19,38,57,76
Thanks a lot guys!

is for the pilot bearing but seriously these answers are searchable, I asked the same questions back when I first stared off. Mind you I had no experience being 18 at the time, I learned a ton by staying up late a reading threads on threads.

2. It has no point. Match the outline of it in the flywheel if you want.
3. Lol...torque in stepe means first torque all the bolts in a star pattern to 19 lbs. Then torque them in the same pattern again to 38. Keep repeating till you get to the final number. You torque in steps to ensure all the bolts are evenly pushing down on the flywheel. This makes the final holding value more accurate. Its very important to properly torque the flywheel.
4. Honda high temp urea works the best. But you can use any GOOD high temp grease meant for clutches/disk brake wheel bearings. Don't use anti sieze. If you buy grease at a parts store and the guy recommends anything that says "anti sieze" on it, you're buying the wrong stuff.
