ProLite or StreetLite Flywheel??
Next mod I will purchase is a Flywheel. I'm lookin into ACT XACT Flywheels, and here are the two options.
ProLite - for road racing applications and very quick throttle response
Weight: 8.8lbs
or
StreetLite - for street and drag racing vehicles which may require more inertia.
Weight: 12.5lbs
Which one would be better for my setup? (click the signature to see my setup)

i have a streetlight waiting to be installed.
Everyone goes with the 8 pounder but i sought a mild upgrade over stock so i went with the 12.

I suggest prolite.
But either way you'll love the difference.
I went with 7.5lb Fidanza for my setup.
.....by the way. how long until you install the custom header/cat, etc. and get that baby dyno'd?

i have the pro light and i love it. rpms drop fast as hell. so you have to shift much faster. and its much easyer to stall if your not use to it. before with the stock flywheel if you let the idel drop under normal (750rpm) and hit the clutch the car will just shake a lil and the idel will just bounce back up. but not with the lighter flywheel. if you ever let the idel drop just a lil and hit the clutch the car will just die the idel will not come back up. but you will get use to it over time.
with a lighter flywheel it is harder to get the car moving from a stop and over all drivability will suffer

just seems like a lot of work...
wouldnt make for a good cruising car.
Im looking to make mine easier for long cruises and not a short distance pavent pounder. i think i made the right choice on the 12 lbs for my driving. but some others might like the faster reving.

NA setup for auto-x, road racing...i'd go with the lighter flywheel, the prolite.
drag racing, and/or turbo cars should NOT go with the lighter flywheel since you will need the inertia from the flywheel for the holeshot.

Alright... ProLite it is. I want my car to rev faster... which ultimately means it will have faster acceleration, correct?

Prolite is more tended towards one purpose, like road racing auto-x. Streetlite is overall, pretty okay at all purposes. I don't have either, but there's my opinion

how is that? are u saying that ull benifit with a prolite in roadracing but not in drag?
i dont have a problem with rpms droping fast between shift with my prolite... nothing but quicker revs....Prolite

I had the 12 pounder(with HDSS) in my old hatch set-up...it was most excellent.
I'm about to purchase the 9 pounder for the GSR(with HDSS)...we shall see.

I'm convinced that ACT sells two different flywheels specifically for marketing purposes. It's proven that a lighter flywheel will benefit acceleration, however rumors and hearsay often combat the truth. ACT just figured it could cash out on everyone, regardless of what they believe.
