JDM Integra hood cable issues
Hey guys, need some help with the hood cable release for my recently converted JDM Integra.
I purchased a used DA latch and cable but the cable seems very long. I installed everything and when I pull the release latch inside the car I don't see the end of the cable pulling on the spring. I figured maybe the cable is too long because it's not very taut. So I used the oem usdm cable which is a lot shorter so I did a quick test and routed straight from the DA latch across the engine bay and into the cabin. Again, I pull the release and the other end is not pulling the spring.
I tried different combos of the usdm latch with DA cable. The DA latch with usdm cable. DA latch with DA cable and usdm latch with usdm cable. All with the same results.
Man I doing something wrong?

The end of the of the cables have a plastic clip type piece on the plastic shield that connects to the latch. The plastic clip needs to be clipped into the latch to hold the cable in place while you pull it.
Do you have the plastic piece clipped into the latch?
Hope this makes sense.

Ah yes, the green piece? My oem 3rd gen cable has them and I actually got it to work last night. It's just so dang short so I have it going across my engine bay for the moment.
The DA has the plastic piece too but the one for inside the cabin is a lot further away and it doesn't fit into the slot on the release latch. Is it possible to slide it closer?

Ok I see now. That cable wont work because the blue clip on the latch needs to be attached to the plastic housing on the cable.
The release lever side is fine but the other side is no good.
Unless you can find a way to join the clip to the plastic housing without it separating, it won't work.

No problem!
& Just years of Sitting in the cold/heat getting brittle. They usually break when they are removed from latches.
A person will pull up from the plastic side and will snap it.
I usually pry the cable up from the very end of plastic clip to be sure I don't snap it in 2 pieces.
If you get a used cable make sure both ends look like the release lever side you posted.

Also, a Accord hood cable works. Nearly the perfect length if routed like the oem one. The only issue you will have is when you pop the hood you will need to flip the latch then pull up on the cable about a 1/4 inch for it to pop.
