Byron's Official DC2 Build Thread
Well I picked up this Integra Ls for $350 with a busted timing belt. The guy who owned it did a compression test after they couldn't get it running, determined that the block was junk, and sold it to me for cheap. I got this thing home, reset the timing, shot some starting fluid in it and it fired right up!
So I put my EJ1 up on stands and swapped all the performance suspension with the stock Ls suspension, and sent it down the road for $400. I had just got paid to build the car I always wanted!
Suspension as follows:
Koni Yellows
H&R Race Springs
S2 Rear Lca's
S2 Rear Camber all around
Energy Suspension Bushings all around

Well the stock Ls wasn't enough fun.. So I built a B16. Not sure if these are good numbers but it pulled alright.
Ctr pistons
Pro1 cams
Titanium retainers
Upgraded valvesprings
S2 intake and 70mm Tb
Acl Race bearings
Si Trans
Makeshift P2V clearance
And the dyno sheet

Well I ran that setup for about 17,000 miles. I sold the block for $500, a set of Ycp Ctr pistons, used Eagle Rods for Gsr, and a Gsr block. Seemed like a good deal. While had it apart my friend talked me into painting it.. which turned into shaved badges and side mouldings, but I drew the line at shaving the bay.

Re: Byron's Official DC2 Build Thread
I talked to a painter friend for as many tips I could get out of him. After plug welding the holes, I sealed them with Por15 to keep moisture from penetrating the filler from the backside. Then I scuffed that, and applied filler over it. Here you can see the low spots from the heat warping the metal from welding.
A good tip is to use tape along a body line to keep it nice and crisp. This is my first body work, but I found that it took several coats and block sanding in between to get out all the low spots. Also training your hand to feel for the low spots takes some finesse.
There was a pretty nasty dent right by the handle. This was the hardest part to deal with I think.

Re: Byron's Official DC2 Build Thread
After I spent countless hours on primer and low spot/guide coat, I masked off the door jambs.
Shot them. Next time I won't mask the damn door stickers, I'll just remove them. Now I'm mad every time I open the door and see them.
At the last minute I decided to shave the rear badges, but not the spoiler holes. I'm a welder by night, Engineering student by day. That Speedglas 9100XX is the bomb!

How to Install Evo-X Recaro's in an Integra
I sold those Rsx seats the other week and got into these Evo-X Recaro's for really cheap.
Had them sewn up by a retired gentleman that worked at GM in the upholstery shop for nearly 40 years. The price was right, and the quality is great!
Seat height has been the primary problem with any seat swap I've done so far. The Rsx seat sat too high, and they were also too wide for skinny guys like me. The Rsx has a nice thick F/R adjustment lever running across the bottom front of the seat which is easier to find than trying to grope around for the stock Ls one (which I always hated). The airbags and seat bottom are integrated into the stock Rsx rails, so they were not a viable option. I decided to use the Stock Evo rails which require removing the front mounting bracket for the stock seat. This raises the question of structural integrity but I may still weld in a gusset to help increase rigidity. It's also worth mentioning these seats are not rear-passenger friendly. The only adjustment is a **** that moves the seat-back about 2" every turn. One thing I do know is that these seats hug you like crazy!
This lets the Evo brackets sit flush with the floor.

Re: Byron's Official DC2 Build Thread
cool build man i like the color alot bet it looks clean at night
Thanks! I just picked up some alcantara/microsuede trim for the door panels to help accent the black seats. I'm going to tackle that after I finish the seats up this weekend.

How to Install Evo-X Recaro's in an Integra
There are pins on the bottom of the rails that locate them on the chassis of the EvoX. I cut these off. The bracket that holds the rails the right distance apart hangs down too low and hits the floor making the seat sit uneven. Below I welded in a piece of angle to reinforce it. The section with the eight holes on the left is what has to be cut out.

Re: Byron's Official DC2 Build Thread
I always pictured simple, black, 5-6 spoke mags on this car. I'm thinking some Rays Gram Lights 57 Max I found. I got this guy down to 950 for the wheels, tires (which have 70% tread left), and an HKS ssqv which seemed like a pretty good deal. Maybe you guys can verify that. I'm still trying to get him down to 900 though. They are also 16's which will clear legend calipers in the front.. food for thought.

Re: Byron's Official DC2 Build Thread
It's legit, receipt and everything. He was originally asking 950 so I got him to throw in the Bov too.. and yeah I hate getting lowballed too. I wasn't beating him up too bad. If I can get rid of these Wiseco turbo pistons I can get my rims. I don't even need that much for them, maybe $350 shipped.. oh and some eagle Ls rods too. I'd do the whole package for probably $575 shipped. I'm not into them for much so I can pass the deal along.
