Default exhaust smoke question?

sometimes when I start my car, there's a small cloud of smoke that comes out the exhaust for about a second or two. Then it goes away. My question is, does anyone think that this happens because I'm using 20w50 synthetic oil. One of my friends told me that could be why since the oil is thicker than the recommended 5w30. He said it had to do something with the piston rings. The only reason why I'm using this weight is because when I changed the conventional to synthetic oil, I wanted to start off with 20w50 make sure the oil would'nt thin out. I was thinking of switching to 10w30 synthetic. I need some opinions please.

well first why did you even use 20-50...your weather is different?
go back to 10-30 if your weather is normal or next oil change...or immediately...ur is 95 all seals should be sealed already no need to start with 20-50...although i haven't anything about starting out with 20-50 before using sythetci oil...

well pistons' rings aint easy to be leaked....when they got old they might leak. In ur case it's a 94gsr...so ...there is a possibility of leakage...
if the pistons' rings leak...there will be smoke coming out from the back everytime you gas the pedal...not only 2sec after ignition started...

change back to normal 10-30 you should be fine...if you live in cali, the weather getting cold so smoke can be related to the weather and have nothign to do with pistons' rings leakage...gl man
