A/C help needed...VERY HOT!!
So the STL has been VERY hot this week. About 111 heat index with about 80% humidity....ah, the great midwest. Anyway, I noticed my a/c wasn't blowing as cold as normal so I went and got some stuff at Autozone and started to fill it. The guage was reading low so I let it fill (on max a/c). All the sudden, the engine sounded like it was going to die and the guage shot to the red zone. I disconnected everything and put my hand in the car only to find out it was blowing hot as hell air. I bleed some out of the system and started driving. The a/c kept kicking on and off and blowing very hot. Everytime it kicked on and off the car would surge like it was going to die. I went home and parked the car and then drove it the next morning and the a/c was blowing ice cold. I came out on lunch today and it was back to warm air. What is the deal here? Should I drain the whole system and start again? I do hear, when the a/c kicks on, a quick squeel then it goes away but the belt is brand new and it blows ice cold in the mornings. I don't get it.......anyone?

Re: A/C help needed...VERY HOT!!
As R134a is not sold over the counter, must be certified to buy it, what was the brand name of the product you did buy, something like RedTek, Duracool or ArcticFreeze, most DIY A/C recharge kits use a combination of things, dyes/sealers and propane as the refrigerant.
The squeal may be the belt, but most likely the A/C compressor clutch engaging.
You may have a problem with the A/C expansion valve, sticking closed, would explain the high pressure, engine almost stalling and poor cooling.
I would also check the heater hose control valve, make sure it closes all the way when temp. is set to cold. 94
