b16 differential bearing? Pricey? Hard?
My pass side axle has 1'' of play so the diff bearing is def bad. How hard is this job and how much is the bearing? What else should I do while I have everything apart.
Also anyone know where I can find a diagram of my YS1 Tranny and Diff bearing?

Re: (JDMPheens)
There was a recent post with a 'how to' on installing a limited slip or a final drive or something, and it had plenty of nice pics showing how to pull the differential.
I actually thought that I had a bad bearing in my diff, and ordered bearings, and tore my tranny apart only to find the bearings were fine. My problem was axles and the rear torque mount failing.
I still have the new, sealed type bearings that don't require shimming I believe. My bearings are for a YS1 tranny from a 92 RS, if you research and find that they are what you need, which I think they will be, post up. $40 plus shipping for both of them, brand new.

I can assure you that 1" of play in an axle is not from a differential bearing. Your transmission would have grenaded a while ago if that was the case. Did you replace the clip on the end of the axle? It sounds like your passenger side axle is not seating in the differential. How difficult was it to install the passenger side axle?
Check part 8 in the diagram (p/n 44319-S0A-300).

Okay so maybe not an inch, but I did just replace both of my axles and I think it was doing this before that too. Is there anyway to find out for sure what it is? There really shouldnt be any play in there though right????

more info please...
I just picked up my bearings for the differential today along with a rear main seal and axle seals to do while were in there....
Is the reason this happend because I put a stage 3 clutch in there and it tore the bearing apart?

Its not the actual bearings that have play, its the splines in the middle of the bearings. Does that make my whole differential bad. Because I called the dealer and they dont sell just spider gears, <--If thats what it is?
Someone please add some info on this I have been tryin to get answers for days...Thanks
