96 integra no start
So for a while now my car would occasionally not turn on. Some times when I would turn the key and just hear the starter clicking but the car wont start, then after a while of trying to turn it on it would turn on. So it turns on when it wants to, and I'm getting really frustrated now, its got a new battery and I replaced the main relay, the starter says its good( took it to autozone) So I'm just wondering if any of you guys have had any experience with this type of problem, cuz now im thinking it could be the starter even though it tested good or the ignition switch. So any advice would help.

have you replaced the fuel pump relay? or is it part of the main relay like on the accords? i didnt look it up before this post. if the starter turns and the motor is turning over trying to start but not suceeding then the relay is most likely bad

Re: 96 integra no start
so the starter was clicking which means not enough power to the starter, new battery means either too much resistance in the wires or loose connections in the wires to the starter. check all connections and check the resistance of the wires running to the starter. The resistance should be less than 2 ohms as long as the battery hasn't been re-located.

Re: 96 integra no start
It has new battery and the wires going to the starter are good and tight, i used a volt meter on the power wire of the starter and its getting source voltage, and ok i forgot to mention that if it sits over night it'll start but when i shut it off after driving it thats when it does the clicking. This got me stumped

Re: 96 integra no start
This might help ya.
1.Install suitable ammeter, voltmeter and tachometer as shown in Fig. 7
2.Disconnect ignition coil primary lead two pole connector at distributor, Fig. 9.
3.Turn ignition switch to Start position, starter should crank.
4.If starter does not crank, check battery, positive battery cable, ground and electrical connections for looseness or corrosion, then repair and retest.
5.If starter still does not crank, proceed as follows:
a.Disconnect starter solenoid (BLK/WHT wire) electrical connector.
b.Connect suitable jumper wire between positive battery terminal to solenoid terminal.
c.Starter should crank.
6.If starter still does not crank, remove starter and diagnose internal problem.
7.If starter cranks, check for open in BLK/WHT wire between starter and ignition switch, then check ignition switch.
8.On models with automatic transaxle , check neutral safety switch and connector.
9.On models with manual transaxle , check starter relay, clutch interlock switch and electrical connector.
10.Check starter cut relay and security alarm system, if equipped.
11.If starter engages but engine cranks erratically, remove starter motor, then inspect starter drive gear and flywheel ring gear for damage. Check overrunning clutch for binding or slipping when armature is rotated with drive gear held.
12.Check cranking voltage, voltage should be no less than 8.0 volts.
13.Current draw should be no more than 360 amperes.
Hope that helps ya out.
