Re: (95gsrturbo)
I just read the Hondata Forum and i can't believe how well the other ppl discribe this. It sounds just like my car. I have a P28 ecu. All else is exactly the same.

Send a copy of your map (32kb bin file) to matt@hondata.com with a detailed description of your problem.
I may not be able to fix the problem, but maybe I can give advice as to what the problem is. And you can have your tuner try the suggestions.
FYI My car runs exactly the same with a p72 or a p28.

Re: Re: (FBP Si 2000)
I have had really successful tunings with the majority of the cars that I street tune. I do once in awhile have a stumble or hesitation after all the tuning is done on two of the cars that I have tuned. I then go back and analyze the fuel values and maps to see what the problem could be. On one car there was no resolution, and even the 2D maps were no overlapping. We switched to another ecu and the problem was the fixed. The other car was happier at a slightly richer air/fuel, problem solved. Tuning partial throttle on the street is the best possible way due to situations like this. I like to drive the cars I tune for at least 5-10 minutes to make sure everything is 100%.

Comparison of map with hesitation to one without hesitation
The following are comparisons of maps in 2D showing the difference between a map that is having hesitation problems (left) and one that has been fully tuned without hesitation (right). The highlighted portions are the areas that typically are the problems areas. Both cars have turbos, but the turbo maps have been hidden to ease in comparison.
Timing maps (left has hesitation, and right has none):
Fuel maps (left has hesitation, and right has none):

Exactly. It depends on how the tuner tuned at part throttle. My car feels like a factory turbocharged car.

Re: Comparison of map with hesitation to one without hesitation (Spunkster)
See what I mean.....need to richen columns 5 and 6 on the maps.
in addition, the timing dips on the stock cars need to be corrected especially if you change out dual runner manifolds for single runners.
Matt seems to have come to the same conclusions. Don't rely on the target lambda values in Hondata to get you there. For some reason you need to go richer than expected as you come up on the throttle. I tried every combination including changing injector durations, tip in adjustment... and nothing seemed to make as much of a difference as changing that one fuel area.

I thought it was just me! I use RC 550cc and a S200 w/boost. and My car hesitates ar exactly 3k rpm too. I tried changing plugs, O2 Sensors, retuning. nothing helped.
also if i lift off the throttle then press again at 3k it (exhaust) pops, leading me to believe its dumpin fuel in at 3k rpm.
OT: does anyone else have the "warm startup/bad Idle" problem? starts perfect when cold. when warm idles like **** for 2 min or so.</TD></TR></TABLE>
EVERYTHING you guys say my 00civic si with a drag kit does the samething listed above and it also floods when i try to start it... this is with a p28 ecu.
when im crusing at 3500rpm and i give it part throttle its kinda jerks i dun know why

I've got a stock 95 LS with precision turbo 520cc/min injectors, hondata s200 with boost option, and a 255lph fuel pump. It hesitates at 3k rpms and 200-320 mm/hg and at 4krpms and 200mm/hg.</TD></TR></TABLE>
i have the exact same problem. i'm running 550cc/min - hondata s200 - P72.
i was just told it was normal, if i wanted to, street tuning would definitely minimize it but I always thought it was just hondata's signature.
i've learned to live with it, but it is annoying.

NO KIDDING!!!.. but my tuner offered to take my car for a day and street tune it... should do the trick

Re: (95gsrturbo)
I have that same problem.. '94 GSR motor, built bottom end, 255 pump, DSM 450s, but no Hondata. I have a shitty SMC. Right around 80mph (4000rpm) the car will start lunging like it's misfiring, and this is only in vaccuum at partial throttle. My car needs to be tuned like a ****, and I was hoping Hondata would be the answer... Lukily Gruvytune is in my area

SMC gets the same for me thoughout the 2.5k & around 3.5k band. Part throttle hesitations like a "****" ....
Oh well hopefully my Hondata will see to it that problem is gone, no?
BTW: wich SMC are you running ?

Re: Who's got a hondata that runs smoothly w/o any hesitation? (glagola1)
That could be anything. First place i'd start is the injectors, fuel pressure and sensors. Have you looked at the datalogs from you'r tuning sessions? in particular look for any weird fluctuations in the IAT, MAP and TPS sensor readings and look for any stumbles in fuel pressure.
This may also be an intermitent problem that only shows up on the road. You may want to take your tuner for a ride with the laptop plugged in to see if you can datalog while the hesitation is actually happening. Thats probably the only way you will pinpoint whats occuring.
As for me, my S200B seems to be running perfectly although a little rich to counter the JRSC tip in detonation.
P.S. In reading all of the above posts it seems like that fuel map issue described above is the likely problem but if you have the time it would still be worthwhile to do a little on-road datalogging. Thats something I plan to do as soon as I have the time and money.

Re: Who's got a hondata that runs smoothly w/o any hesitation? (fastludeh22)
hey how do u tell the difference between hesitation and just plain ol turbo lag? i think i may have this problem too....
if i let off the gas a lil while it hesitates and stomp a lil it sometimes goes away. i have basically the same set up as most of you. 550ccs (cpr), hondata s200B, t3/t4, b series, p28....
whats the recomended fuel pressure with a 255lph pump?
krazy

DAm i'm not alone, i've been getting mad hesitation and jerking of the car, but what i don't get is my car has been riding fine for the 1 1/2 that i've had my turbo set-up, i just recently had my headgasket changed cause i was leaking oil, the hesitation started when i started leaking oil which i thought was related but now it still does it, whats the deal, and everytime the shop drives it to figure out whats up the car drives fine, it seems to only do it when i drive the thing....HELP!!
