What engine managment should I use?
I currently have the AEM EMS and was considering dumping the EMS for another standalone or engine managment. I like the AEM because it does so much but it is a bitch to learn how to use, and the only place I can think of putting it is in my glovebox. Is there another managment system out there that is reliable and somewhat cheaper? If not should I go for the Motec M4? I want to hear your opinions and what you all are runnign with great success.

I am sticking with the EMS. It's by far the most affordable fully programmable unit with great support. And if you are at least 50% computer literate you should be able to learn how to use it. Reading is also required.

are you tuning it yourself? if so then the ems is by far the easiest out there. if you are not tuning it yourself then see what the person tuning the car says. if they feel they can do a good job w/the ems then go for it, but if they say hell no i dont know nuthin about that ****, but i can tune a motec really good and have done blah blah with a motec, then get a motec.

Why put it in your glovebox when it fits right where the stock computer goes. Just push the wires up a bit wedge it in with the cable going up and the plastic cover will fit right over top of it.

if you cant afford something better than hondata then save your money and use a chipped ecu. does everything hondata does for free

Hondata will work absoulety fine for just about everyone... If you really want a standalone and have money to spend I would go with Motec (I still think it's the cleanest EMS out there)

Well I was actually talking about the physical "looks" of the system... Not plug and play with a stock wiring harness like the AEM EMS... Same thing goes for F.A.S.T. it's got a Window's based system but the DOS version is still easier (overlaying mapping, etc)... Tho I don't like using DOS, I don't mind it for tuning... That's just me tho... Still for MoTeC!

if your looking for relatively cheap, i suggest uberdata. I am working on one w/ and for my buddies 95ls. If your willing to have to learn how to tune it yourself, imo this would be the way to go. No having to pay over 100 dollars for 3 step rev limiter and datalogging like hondata.

can't go wrong with the AEM EMS, get a good tuner that KNOWS it, and you're done (then you start playing with it on your own)... and it sits just perfectly where the stock ecu goes

You anti-DOS kids are funny. I grew up with c64's and PC/XT era IBM/clones; a command line interface and lo-res graphics are like coming home.
I'll use anything and give you my valid opinion on it. I like a lot of the stuff I've played with, and my #1 complaint with the systems I have touched is price. If you have money to burn, or a real need for extravagant features, the upscale standalones are very nice. Except the EMS, which I hate, because only V-TECH loving stunnas like JDogg use that

the hondata or ems is great for the user less concerned with costs and who do not have the time or whatnot to learn fuel/ ign maps, tuning, etc. associated with chipping yourself.
