Greddy Profec B Spec 1.

I had it, but went back to MBC, I would seriously consider a MBC.

At the time when the article was written, I believe it was either Turbo Mag or SCC that did a thorough writeup on all the main electronic boost controllers. It was basically looking at the Greddy Profec B, HKS EVCIV, Blitz SBC-iD and Apex'i AVCR.

I think it came down to the best two being the ProfecB and SBC-iD. It summary, get the ProfecB if you want great boost control, simplicity and no user display and low cost. I have, however, heard from a few people that the Greddy can limit the amount of boost you want to run (above 20 psi), in part because of the low-tech stepper motor design.
The SBC-iD also had great boost control (only a fraction under the Greddy), but tons of features, the only one that can display in 4 different units of measurement, boost gauge built in, great dual solenoid, can partner with Power Meter i-D for even more display options, is compact and has user friendly menus, but has a slightly higher cost compared to the Greddy.

I have the Blitz, and I'm super happy with it.

AVR-R did pretty well in that comparo too. Pricey and a pain to use, but if you are looking for features it's hard to beat.

The rest of the EBC's didn't do any better than the MBC.

I have the hks evcIV (not installed yet) but I got it for only $150 on ebay. Can't wait to use it I used a mbc on my last set up with no troubles, but I wanted to step it up a bit this time.

Pretty much said it all, the AVC-R is a pain in the *** but once you understand how the features work it can be a very very capable boost controller.

why do you want to best.

also define what your needs will be.

if all you want is BEST as in best bang for buck/value of the dollar & that it has less chances of spiking, your answer will be different than the best EBC that has tons of more features on there for more extravagent usage....
make sense.

BTW stick with a MBC for now if your not boosting that much and your setup is still mild. Money could be better spent towards savings for rods, pistons, larger turbo ect.

I heard from B18c1cya that the Profec B is very hard to tune when it comes to air ratios and setting them. He told me that even though it would seem that the setting should be at 0, instead it needs to be at 100. I guess GReddy wont help you out with it if you call either. Lately, the newest model is no longer digital from what he told me, so that is a plus....

The best that I know of is the older version Apexi AVC-D... 4 dials at seperate RPM's, low boost -> high boost button, etc.

I don't know why everyone thinks it's difficult to use or confusing. I have no complaints about mine. It's straight forward, simple to use, easy to install, and I love the digital display. Saved me from having to buy a boost guage. The only thing I disliked about it was the instructions are a little weird, but who needs instructions.

Blitz sbc-id is what I'm using, and recommend it. It is a bit pricey. I bought mine on ebay for around $300 brand new.

I've used:
1.Greddy profec b (takes to long to dial-in)

2.Blizt spec S (couldn't handle that much boost but simple to setup.) Spec R would've been a better choice.

3.TurboXS dual MBC (didn't like having to get out of my car, pop my hood, and adjust.) Probably much easier to setup on a dyno...

4. Blitz sbc-id (love it!)

the greddy profec b spec 1, the blitz dual sbc spec r and the sbc id have the best stepping motors out there. thus keeping spikes and creep down. my weapon of choice is the dual sbc spec r.
