Default Tune Dilemma need help.

I finally got my 2.0 ls vtec turbo build finally running last night. Started right up with no problems. My problem is that im running s300v2 from phearable.com and a base tune to get it running but i start the car sits a 14.8-15.2 a/f but after 1 minute it leans out to like 17.9 - --- and car shuts off. Im guessing the base tune is a little off. So what do i do? Its a fresh brand new motor, pistons, sleeves, rods, etc. So i want to seat everything right. I had john vega send me another tune to try to get it to idle but at work till 4. My question is how should i break in the motor when my tuner lives 2 n half hours away? I know a friend that street tunes and has tuned my cars in the past. Would it be ok for him to do a partial tune to get the car running ok and break it in with that partial tune and then go to my tuner after i got my exhaust back on and stuff like that? ( partial tunes means just 50% throttle tuning really dont want to do WOT street pulls in my area) Only reason i dont tow the car there is that i dont want to get there n i start leaking oil or coolant or something after some pressure. Thats why i want to do something local and get it running perfect before i drive over there. Any input will help. Thanks

Do the break-in NA, either on a dyno or on a race track. Warm up engine, change oil. Dog the **** out of it for 50 miles, change the oil. Drive normally, change oil at 500, then go back to normal oil change rotations. The first three changes should be done with break-in oil, everything after 500 can be with whatever oil you want.

You will be okay with a partial tune to get it broken in. Just make sure the AFR's are as close to stoichiometric (14.7:1) as possible.

Tune the car as is... AFR's are going to differ. They don't need to be 14.7.. infact, they can be richer or leaner, whatever the car wants.

Normally a good guide is

Idle - 14.0-14.7
Cruising 14.0-15.5
WOT(turbo) 11.5-12.0(depending on fuel).

This way, you will have plenty of time to run it in, don't have to worry about fuel, can make sure all systems are ok without any CEl's and such...just my vote, and what I did.
