Precision Turbo selection??? 6262 or 6765
My boosted GSR project has been stalled for most of the winter but now i am back home and can start ordering parts. Now up untill me reading a few threads I was 100% sold on the Precision 6262 turbo. The numbers being put down are awesome for the price!!!!!! But I was wondering if what you guys thought would be be better for my GSR. I was wondering if i should go with a ball bearing 6262 or a journal bearing 6765. Now with the 6765 i think lag will be an issue????? But im also worried about going to big because my motor has eagle rods that are only rated to 600 HP. So what do you guys think? Im leaning more towards the 6262 but figured i would throw it out there.
Thanks guys
Thanks guys

People have make 900whp on eagle rods. I made 522. I run a 6765 just because I want big power but the 6262 is a great turbo.

As far as my set up goes. I have a b18c1 block ans heads with mahle pistons and eagle rods which say they are only rated to 600 hp ( i think there are two types of eagle rods?) full supertech valve train (springs, retainers, valves) stock polished and balanced crank moroso oil pan, skunk 2 intake manifold, power sport port matched throttle body and my fuel system is a walbro 255 with stock line and i will be ordering an AEM fuel rail and reg and planning on running fuel injection clinic max blue 1680's. As far as power i was hoping for 550ish??????????? I dont wannna go to hard and blow my block apart. I am also looking into get a water meth injection system. Still researching it tho. But the 6262 does look like a great turbo. but still wanna spend my money in the right places and dont want to regret not getting the bigger turbo right from the start! Also i will be running a speedfactory top mount. Will i have any clearance issues with these size turbos? I was planning and calling them before I ordered it to check and give them a heads up.

X2.
I ran a journal bearing billet 6262 (.63 a/r) on my Benson sleeved GSR and loved it. It lagged a teeny bit more than I would have liked, but I had very short gearing, so I didn't mind it too much. Made 489 whp on a little 2.5" exhaust & RC 750cc's. The 6765 will be too big of an application for what you're trying to do. But 550 whp will be a walk in the park for that 6262.

Glad i stumbled upon this thread.. i've got a very similar build going on with my gsr, and was considering the same turbo options. After talking to some local shops and researching some i've come to the decision of the billet 6262! Just ordered mine from Goautoworks for 895.

The 6262 is probably the better choice, Only reason I would pick the 6765 is because my car is seeing a lot less street use than when I first started putting this car together and it would be nice to not have the little turbo If I wanted to run in a True Street Event or something.

just put down 650 whp on a 6262, 25psi on e85 stock sleeve GSR. Went from the my little potent 30R, to this new turbo and only saw about 8-900 rpm lag difference. I'm so glad I did not go with the 67...i would have loss so much boost between shifts, since I only rev to 8800rpm.

See I want to know the difference between the 6262 billet and the 6262 billet ball bearing I need to know if is worth spending the extra money for the ball bearing..

6262 journal bearing=best bang for your buck. I currently run one on my dsm and is a great all aorund turbo. Spools fast enough for the street and has enough ***** to flow 70lb/m.

NewKlear, I made the numbers in my sig on a BB Billet wheel 6262. Ill never own a journal bearing turbo after using this 6262. Ive used only precision turbos, sc60 at first, than an sc61, both journal bearing turbos, and ive had my newest precision turbo(6262) for about 5 months now and love it, no going back to journals after this.

The ball bearing helps little with initial spool but helps alot with respool in between shifts. Its nto nessesary but it sure is nicer if you can foot the bill
