96 GSR
OBD2
450 DSM/With RES Box
VAFC
255 Intank

Had it on the car for about 2-3 months now. I got this cuz im here in Germany and there are no HONDATA, or any other type of Tuners here. Headed back to the States this October and i might just keep running it. Took a while to get the setting right..I dont have my Wideband yet though Planning on etting one soon though. Going of my APEXi TT and it read around 12 when in full boost give or take so im cool with that for now. i got a 35MM Tial WG with the 4.5 Lb spring so i can only go to 9 PSI...Got a mad crazy Boost leak now so thats pissing me off...No Numbers yet sorry.

Used vafc hack on my old setup. It was with a jrsc, stock b16 dynoed at 188whp. Had no problems for 6 months until i blew my tranny

I'm probably going to be using "the hack" for at least a month on my new turbo setup. So i'm also interested in what others are doing with the hack.

O rilly!

Are you aware there is a guy going to college in Washington (the Pacific NW one) whose masters thesis in EE is about black boxes that pretend to be OBD2 ECUs when you hook scantools and suchlike to them? You very much can pass emissions with a 96+ car, it's just a case of who you know.</TD></TR></TABLE>

With a MSEE, wouldn't it be a better idea to make an Uberdata-type system WITH the OBDII ECU? After all, eventually the junkyards will be depleted of the P28!

I'm only a third year BSME student, very little training in EE, but it must be plausible.

i'm also using the hack right now.

setup is: b16 obd2 00' SiR, vafc, blue top 450cc injectors, resistors from radioshack, jacob's ignition timing retard device with boost retard.

boost transition is seamless and very smooth just like driving a factory turbocharged car. some hard starting when the engine is hot.

i get terrible gas mileage about 4.8 to 5km/liter. mostly city driving. stock timing at the dizzy but retarded by the jacob's. seems like a pretty big retard coz i used to have detonation when the a/c was on. tuner fixed it by retarding my timing.

i'm planning to switch to uberdata or chrome.

I feel ya, been there done that. I used to get about 19 mpg by leaning it out around 2-4k rpm.

I know I am getting slightly off topic, but my personal recommendation would be to sell the afc on ebay and that should be enough for you to get your ecu chipped with either crome or uberdata.

I am running around with only a base map that is untuned and the experience is still better than the "hack".

Also, going chipped ecu , it opens up a new door of future tuning possibilities. you can only adjust the fuel curve so much with the afc. a chipped ecu allows you much more tuning points and options. (idle target, speed limiter, rev limit)

I run the Hack....I havent had any major problems yet....crossed fingers....

I would like to see how much power the Hack is able to make on D and B Series motors.

I was able to put down 155 hp to the wheels on 5 lbs of boost with the hack....given I am 5080 ft about sea level...

I was very impressed with the numbers.

Jon

Stock Block d16y8
450cc DSM injector (all of the HACK stuff)
Apexi N1 60.5 MM exhaust...
FMIC

All of this running 10lbs and it pulls like a mother ******!!!

94 GSR
Eagle Rods, CP pistons, 9:1 OS
VAFC V.1
DSM 450 BTs
255 Walbro
Timing set retarded 3 degrees or so
Stock fuel pressure

VAFC set at -35 accross the board, -30 in a few places i beleive, cant remember exactly

I actually wrote up a thread a few months ago after my visit to the dyno with this current setup.
I cant complain about the hack, however its definetly limiting my setup. Im currently running 5psi and it runs real well, every gear, all the way up.

However at the dyno i only managed 210 WHP, and above 6200rpms or so the car leaned out BAD, like jumping up to the 13.8-14.1 range on 10psi.
We dicked with the car for 16 more pulls, trying to lean here on the AFC and raise fuel pressure, the opposite, change timing, everyting we could, and the bitch would not richen up for us for anything, but i know it cause i was attempting too much boost on the Hack, so i decided it had to stay below 8psi, cause even at the on the dyno, it still leaned out. Anyway so i set the bitch back to 5psi so its running safe, and waiting this week to throw in uberdata and have some fun with 10psi.
So basically the Hack is running real good, but above 8psi, it threw my car into a twist, and almost cost me my built motor.

That's why people convert P06's to P28s... even now they're doing that.

You can already do Uberdata-type stuff with OBDII, but have you ever looked at the chip you need to remove/replace? Not something I'd like to attempt to solder without some very nice equipment at my disposal! All in all, making an OBDII code fooler as suggested sounds a hell of a lot easier!

I've used the Hack on two of my setups.

SOHC VTEC D16y8
Greddy Turbo Kit (td04-15g)
Intercooler, exhaust, blah
10psi (201.38hp)
450cc blue tops/V-AFC
ran ok, kinda rich sometimes, kinda lean sometimes. Mainly because the AFC hack is RPM dependant instead of BOOST.

DOHC VTEC B16A2 (99' SI)
Same turbo kit (yes same peanut turbo)
same intercooler, same exhaust blah
10psi (233.20hp)
450cc blue tops/v-afc
ran ok, roasted tires, smoked bitches and haters of the peanut turbo.

Then I did a little research, grew out of the hack and got uberdata

DOHC VTEC B16A2 (99' SI) same engine
T3/T04E (60/62) MASSIVE turbo (well...compared to the peanut)
same intercooler, same exhaust blah
10psi (277.38HP)
450cc blue tops/uberdata/datalogging/2step rev/wideband
ran awesome, perfectly tuned, no hesitation, no lean, no rich, stomped on some fools daily. The fastest car i've ever owned. And believe it or not, it took knowledge to get my uberdata setup running, NOT MONEY.

the v-afc hack is good for people who are using the FMU. but the v-afc hack is not good by any means. its messy, sloppy, entry level. so quit hating on free programs (uberdata/crome/turboedit/etc) get yourself in the forums, find out how to chip your own ecu for 8 bucks and get TUNED MOTHAFUCKA!!!!
