Need help tuning Turbo D16 with stock P28 and VAFC-II
Hey guys. Worked on the car the last couple days and got her all tightened up and running. I need some help just getting a decent running tune for the setup I have. I know it's not optimal for best performance, but I want to get it running decent and go from there.
Here's the setup:
D16Y8
GSP T3/T4 .57 Trim Turbo
Treadstone piping
Treadstone-FMIC
RC310cc Injectors
Stock P28
Apexi VAFC-II
XS Power Wastegate
Not sure of BOV kind
I have a AEM Wideband in a test pipe that's hooked up to a Apexi WS-II. (Not turbo version)
Help me out to atleast tweak it in the right direction.
Thanks in advance!!

Seriously it's 2013 and you want to hack tune your car with an apexi vafc REALLY??? For goodness sake at least out the car on Crome free and tune it properly. What a waste of money on that thing.

Yup. Throw the VAFC away and chip the ecu. You are going to run out of injector very quickly also.

Sure you can, people did it all the time a decade ago. Not to say there are not much much better solutions available now. But people did it (I did) back then when it was a much more elegant solution to the FMU.
The main problem is going to be finding "maps" and help now-a-days because nobody uses that method anymore. Google "S-AFC Hack".

Your just going to have to guess at first. Those injectors are not that big so you might start with -15% or -20% across the board and see how it goes from there. Back in the day I had, I think they were DSM 450's and my SAFC was set to about -40% across the board I think.
You might also google for TurboXS DTEC, it was a similar idea and you might be able to get some maps from there.

here is what you do, dial back your distributor to retard a few degrees.
tune the afr.
hope for the best.
save up for new block.
