Default Need help deciding on which turbo for built H22

The engine is fully built, 9:1, turbo cams, p&p head, blah blah blah 2.6 L H22. The only thing is that it must stay internal wastegate, 5 bolt ford style t3 hot side. Power goals are whatever it will do on pump and meth, so use your imagination.

My choices so far are a gt35r or a 60-1BB... If anyone has other suggestions, or an opinion about my choices please share. I would look into precision, but I dont see any with the internal gate setup that I need. Also, suggest housing specs if you like.

Thanks!

Why on earth would you want it internally gated?

I have a very nice, expensive, custom downpipe and alternator relocation setup for my car, and the internal gate is very clean, very effective, and quiet.

I think you meant INefficient.
Boost creep is going to own you with those large turbos and a 2.6L.

Nonetheless... IMO I'd go for the 35R with an .82 hot side. The larger hot side will also help keep the boost creep to a minimum.

There are a lot of internal wg options for larger frame turbos now thanks to the Subie and DSM markets. I still think that an external gate would be the best option

Garbage. That things not worth **** if youre trying to make any power....

1st off what are your power goals.. Im making well over 600 with a T4 Precision PT6176SP....

Youre going to NEED a bigger wastegate,. htat things going to creep. get rid of it, and get a 44mmTail WG.

Id suggest a GT30R (ish) for 520 WHP, a 35r (ish) for 630. Gt4094r for any more...

If you want to save a bit of money, go the non BB route. I did and that PT61 is a mean motherexpletiveer on the street. spools at arond 27-2800 Pulls all the way to 8500.

If you havent gathered yet.. Its a shitty option, and EVERYONE who chimnes in will probably tell you so. That in itself should tell you something.

Well, then I have to bold this one... I KNOW ALL ABOUT EXTERNAL WASTEGATES AND HOW THEY ARE HARDER TO CREEP WITH, HOWEVER THERE IS NONONONONONONONONONONONONONONO ROOM FOR ONE ON MY SETUP, AND THERE NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER WILL BE, SO YOU, EVERYONE ELSE WHO RESPONDS TO THIS POST, AND I MUST FORGET ALL ABOUT EXTERNAL WASTEGATES FOR THIS SETUP, AND COME UP WITH A DECENT SOLUTION. FOR THE RECORD, I WOULD RATHER QUIT AT 400WHP, THAN CHANGE MY DOWNPIPE SETUP, AND LOSE MY GROUND CLEARANCE. IT IS AN 11 SECOND STREET CAR, NOT AN 11 SECOND TRACK CAR THAT MAY BE OCCASIONALLY DRIVEN ON THE STREET.

LOL that being said, thanks for the input, does that PT61 come in a 5bolt hot side?

Im curious (and too lazy to search your ****)... WHAT is sooooooooo hard about getting a proper setup on this car??? There are COUNTLESS people who seem to be able to across multiple chassis.. Yet you fail... why???

Chassis??

Pics??

Howd you get to 2.6 L???

Typical ******* hater-tech "do it the way everyone else does it or ill flame you!" You got all caps because you are the third person who felt it necessary to preach to me the theory of external wastegates and boost creep. You show me a del sol with h22, large turbo, ramhorn manifold, a downpipe like mine, Air conditioning, and an external wastegate... NO EFFING ROOM FOR THE LAST TIME.

yea thats right, 3" exhaust in an h22 sol, and no loss of ground clearance... I had the exhaust going the stock way before, and it would bottom out on everything with my 2" drop, so my choice was go back to stock height.... NO Go back to 2 1/4 exhaust... NO Or find another way to do it...

I don't care about your piece of ****... I fail at nothing ******, anyone can gut and butcher a vehicle to make it fast... ANYONE. I fail because I want to keep the car as drivable and comfortable as possible while making it fast?! whatever dude

You can have more info on my setup if you contribute some useful information to my thread, until then, try to work it out in your head, and I promise it is effing sweet!

GT35R
im sure you can get up to 400hp with not to much boost and not letting the wg creep on you as much...what type of turbo manifold are you using?

well from the one pic i can see the turbo...gl w/ that

my only advice is turbo'd dano make some nice housings for the hx35's that are internalled gated w/ a dsm flange...but hell if your so bent on running an internal gate i doubt youll want to chop up a mani to make it work

thanks for the input... It would be 10x more possible to change the flange on the manifold, than to go external, so that is a good option.... do you know of any bolt on flange adapter like the ones that go from t3 to t4?

if they did...i dont even think it would work in your case...you have minimal space...and the dsm flange is more square than a rectangle like the t3...so i doubt anyone makes one
