Default Need of asistance... both radiator hoses getting firm. NEED HELP!

Im sure tjis topic has already been disccused, i have looked it up over a dozen times and done everything possible to the car and i am still stuck and breaking my head...

Ok so for starters i got a 93 del sol with a ls vtec built turbo swap...

Car was running good until i installed turbo kit on the motor, all of a sudden my hoses were full of pressure and my hondata threw over heating engine light. So I went and replaced the thermostat thinking was stuck and still same issue. Then changed the water pump and still doing the same thing. Flushed out cooling system and still. Later to take off the head since head gasket was like a last option and head got milled and replaced gasket and arp head studs as well as a new radiator cap and still doing the same thing. Overheat light came on again. I checked fan replaced it and since hasnt had over heat light yet but still getting this over the top pressure in hoses. What can this be please i need help?

And im sorry if i explain this all messed up or seem like a noob but ive been in this for years and never had this issue idk what to do :/

is firm at start up.

The cooling system builds pressure as the engine heats up. Its normal for it to get firm. That's actually a good thing because it means your cooling system is sealed and can build pressure. Usually around 1 to 1.3 BAR is what I see on most hondas.

You may have had a bad fan since you don't have the problem anymore.

Overheating when stationary, and dropping to proper temperature when moving is generally caused by a failing (or improperly shrouded) fan. Firm hoses after warming up is completely normal. The coolant system is pressurized to raise the boiling point. If you're worried about it, the only external source of pressure would be a damaged head gasket - do a compression test and post the numbers. For a D16Y variant, minimum compression is 135 PSI and maximum variance is 28 PSI, but for a healthy engine that someone wants to run FI on, I wouldn't trust anything lower than 160 PSI with a maximum variance of 10 PSI.

I had changed the head gasket but before i changed the head gasket i had compression test of 180 180 175 180... But i milled head did new head gasket and arp studs and havent checked the compression yet... And i did the test with engine completely cooled down.

A test done before head gasket replacement can be completely ignored. Trying to use those numbers would be akin to checking your tire pressure, replacing your tire, then assuming that it's at the same pressure - you've completely replaced the system, so it isn't the same anymore.

Yea as mentioned the hoses getting hard is a good thing/pressurized system. When i had those same symptoms it was because my fan wiring was switched so it was spinning the wrong way. It would get hot/overheat in traffic but was fine on highway w/some airflow.

lol, it was a simple mistake but i did tinker with it a bit before i realized the easy mistake I had made!

Digital sol that was actually ny problem i have a misimoto rad fan and i put it in fromt of my radiator and had switch the wires so.it would blow air opposite.. It seemed to work but then not to long ago my boy pit hand infront of the fan and could feel alot of air so we switched wires and still was same. So i just put the fan the original way suppose to go and havent had a check engine over heat light since. Thanks for all the help everyone

Good stuff bud! I swear the easiest things tend to be the biggest headaches. I replaced the cap, did a pump test etc before I even noticed that as well. Easy test is grab a piece of paper and run the fan manually off a battery to verify its pushing or pulling the correct way.

Glad its fixed!
