Default Integra Type R Intercooler fitment

Any one post a pic up so i can get a rough idea how it fits?

Having a quick look under my bumper, i just realised there is a steel rod that honda put there from factory for extra reinforcement going from one side of the front to the other, right infront of the Radiator/AC Condensor. I dont want to cut it so if anyone has any ideas how to get around it, that would be just awesome!

Also looking at where and how the IC has been bolted up. This is for a 300whp build so i will not be getting a big intercooler because i want to to be as descreet as possible (im not a fan of the intercooler taking up the WHOLE bumper, that it blocks the air flowing straight to the radiator)

Thanks

PS, this should really be in the ITR thread..oops.

if you don't remove/cut the bumper support bar then you need a pretty small 4-5" tall intercooler. a 6" tall cooler might fit also....you gotta do some measuring.

Yea i did some measuring but only roughly. Ill do it properly when i take my bumper off. Ill try and post a pic of the bar im talking about, but it looks like it is going to be right in the way for a cooler. I have heard of some 26"x8" coolers fitting without having to cut the bumper support! But it looks like this:

Im not sure if it is welded on or just bolted on. It might be called front bumperreinforcement bar and it is apparently there for crash protection so im hoping for a way to keep it there and fitting an IC..

Its the front bumper support bar and can be unbolted to fit. But for any decent intercooler, it must be removed anyway.

You should be able to mount a 7" tall intercooler under it. I did with my EG. I drilled holes in it from the underside and used large fender washers so that the mounting points of the intercooler slipped into it and I bolted it from the inside. You have to unbolt it to do this and drill "larger" holes but it still retains the strength of having it. It's kinda hard to describe unless you can see it. I have a Go-Autoworks intercooler coming soon, so when I go to mount that one, I can see about taking some pictures of my mounting.

If yours looks like the above bar, then it's probably a different setup (for weight savings) than an EG/DC.

The one i am looking at getting is a Go AutoWorks but that is 8" tall...really wish they opted for a smaller intercooler for the kit. Pics would be good when you get it. Ill post pics of my bar once i take the bumper off.

You must be looking at the R-series intercoolers. If all you're looking to make is 300whp, then the M-series should be alright also. And either way, it's only an inch. I'm sure you could make it work.

may be worth checking out the PTE 350hp intercooler. i know our cars are different but i got it to fit by just cutting off the seam on the bottom of the bumper support

Since that is a support for a JDM front integra, here is my precision 750. No metal cutting.

I was just going off the IC that comes with the Street Turbo kit. I wonder if i email Go-Autoworks, the can include a smaller intercooler for me.

Looks good from i can see, but i was waiting for a pop going by the title of that video . What dimensions are the mishimoto intercooler and what rating are they? You have an ebay link for me perhaps. So i am assuming you didnt need to cut or trim anything to fit it?

I cant see how that is possible with the reinforcement bar in the way, did you remove it?

i didn't have to change a thing and it bolted up to the front frame rail. made hanging it really easy

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Mishimot...ht_3624wt_1163

i'd also take $100usd + shipping for mine, not sure which option would be cheaper for you

To the exisiting bolt holes that were already there? That is impressive! Its cheaper if i purchase off eBay! I wonder how much it will change the whole fitment of the kit if i purchase this 7.5" tall intercooler compared to the one that comes with the kit, which is 8"....
Did yours come with bolts?

had to drill 1/2" holes in the support beam but that was it. if your kit comes with an 8" that should fit, this one was 7.5"

bolts were m12 coarse thread, 25mm long

Id still prefer the mishimoto, it is 1" slimmer too and also has 2 more bolt holes!

mounting is just slick

simply drill 1/2" holes and use 10mm allen key to tighten. the extra holes on top are right on top of the IC mounts, allows a long 10mm allen key to slip right down to tighten

looks good. So you obviously removed the reinforcement bar and stock AC condensor? I wonder how i would go for room with a slim fan at the front of an ac condensor
