how much boost on stock bottom end?

how much boost on stock bottom end?
I was just wanting to know what kind of boost can a stock bottom end of a d16y8 take. I have been think turbo for a while but if i could get about 10 psi without hurting the bottom end i would do it. otherwise ill just stick to building my z28.

the d series rod are rated to 200hp or 220hp depending on who you ask. be safe and dont go over ten psi or 200 hp. or just get some eagle rods or whoever find

Nice numbers, mine look about the same ~ 220whp . 10psi on t3/t4 turbo, .57 trim .63 AR
Stock motor 'cept for ARP headstuds + new OEM headgasket if that counts lol.. TO counter the headlift I had without them.
What's your setup on your new motor?

Just make sure that you don't boost it too much, I know a guy here boosted a stock 1.5 on 8 psi and did ok but he went to 12 and slung a rod through the back of the block... So 10 should be ok on a stock motor, just make sure you have it tuned.

im not a turbo guy but i would have to add that 10 psi totally depends on the size of a turbo ur using but judging by a stock internalled motor ide say its prob pretty small so 10 psi on a t3/t4 sounds good. just get a tune and u should be fine.

I ran one bar of boost on my stock d16z6 (14.7 pounds) it was a real inefficient setup, meaning not alot of hp for lbs of boost. but I mad good power. 230-240 whp. I ran it like that for 7 months till I traded it for a dual cam, which is not turbo'd as well
ps. this is more of a question for the FI forum. and you will find everyone on the single cam turbo thread says stock rods are good for about 250, there was one guy who made 276 or something like that, but 250 is about the limit.

PSI doesn't matter it's all about your whp goal
If you want it to be safe, stay in the 220-240whp range</TD></TR></TABLE>

I have been told that you go by tq 200tq is about the safe mark on a single cam.
My daily driver completly stock z6 with nice turbo kit made 260whp227tq@12psi
and on 15psi it made 305whp247wtq its holding together so far i run it on 12pounds daily and my girl drives it at the track. So far she has ran a 13.0@107 on some old 15in street tires. Im very happy with it very cheap but efficent. I bet this motor will hold for a long time. Its all about tunning as long as theres no detonation it should hold. Only time will tell..oh and my car gets beaten on daily no ***** foot here!!

Your engine will fight back for treating it like this. It may not go out soon, but that much power on all stock components it will eventually give in to the pressure.

I agree, but i made 315whp on a stock GSR and it lasted for 2 years before a small oil leak caused it to run a bit dry and spin a bearing (barely). Now its rebuilt and ready to rock.

I agree, but i made 315whp on a stock GSR and it lasted for 2 years before a small oil leak caused it to run a bit dry and spin a bearing (barely). Now its rebuilt and ready to rock.

I completely disagree. As Schister said, boost pressure is not what you need to focus on, horsepower is what will cause failure with stock components. Factor in a healthy bottom-end, and a quality tune, there's no reason you should have issues at a moderate horsepower.
FWIW, when my Integra was on a bone-stock motor, we were at ~450whp/325tq...tons of street mileage, 200+ passes at the track, and broke into the 10's...motor never flinched. When we pulled it out...compression was still ~200 across the board, and then threw it into Phil @ Evans-Tuning's hatch, and to my knowledge it's still running like a champ.
Just goes to show with a healthy motor, quality parts, dead-on tune, and proper maintenance, you can go a long way on the stock motor.

A few years ago I ran 14psi with a T3 super 60 on my 100,000 mile D15B7. It had a good tune making 227whp and lasted ~10,000 miles like this. Then it went off like a bomb on a highway run. So I'll say keep it under 10psi or 200whp.

many have thrown rods with gt28r and then there's some that run gt30 and gt35 on stock motor and are fine so far
also from what i've seen in my world gt turbos break rods more often than t3t4's i think its that on the gt's when they start to spool it spools very quickly and causing a tq spike and it doesn't always blow right then sometime it bends a rod and then its a ticking time BOMB

I have rocked almost every honda engine the d is a great engine with great street potetial. I know we are pushing the little single and the rods are super wimpy but it really dosent bother me **** i can pick up a complete swap for what $350 u cant even pick up a d tranny for that price and we all blow those up daily!! If it goes i will throw a vitara builtd together. Then 400whp daily beatean
