HKS SSQV V2 vs. Synapse Synchronic BOV
Im debating on whether between the HKS SSQV V2. and the Synapse Synchronic BOV. i found people selling both in the $100ish range used of course.
Hks SSQV seem to get a lot of mixed reviews o.O? , the Synapse Synchronic seems to be legit, but haven't really heard of them.
D16y8 Turbo
Godspeed Turbo kit T3/T4
tuned on 7.5lbs
shitty ebay SSQV BOV that don't work.

Jerry, I bought an HKS SSQV from this guy who sells alot of them on Ebay and according to his feedback they are not fake either. I absolutely love the way it sounds (coming from a Greddy Type S). It sounds great if you are on low or high boost and I have not had any issues with it so far and I like that it does not need adjusting cos of the way it is made ...

lol i think mines just a piece of ****, btw its not adjustable either ;(, no adjusting screw, i get a fluttering sound, so today i disconnected the vacuum for the bov, and boosted a little, guess what? same flutter sound, so the flutter sound is definitely coming from the turbo COMPRESSOR SURGE,
bov doesn't even open LOL.
and its fake, because it doesn't say hks on it for one, and the kit that came with didn't even say it was hks, just said SSQV STYLE BOV, so its a fake, thats not functional

Re: HKS SSQV V2 vs. Synapse Synchronic BOV
I also have one of the synapse synchronic BOV. It works great, absolutely no flutter or anything. Only con is that I got one of the first gen ones with the tiny m4 brass fittings that take very little torque before they break. They have since redesigned the valve to carry standard 1/8th npt vacuum fittings.
The functionality is perfect though, really fast response.

Re: HKS SSQV V2 vs. Synapse Synchronic BOV
Both works great, but the Synapse BOV has proven to be reliable and consistent even up to 35+ PSI of boost. I have it on my Supra and my Camry, and both cars see 30+ PSI for several years now, and still works great. It opens up even under the slightest boost, and rarely surges despite massive turbos I have on the cars.

Re: HKS SSQV V2 vs. Synapse Synchronic BOV
One thing I like about the Synapse bov is the throttle response is instant. Unlike other bov I've tried like tial, it does not response as fast as the Synapse does. The reason being the Synapse bov is much better, the valve stays open and when you blip the throttle open, it does not bog down at all. The valve only closes when it senses boost. About to order another one for a friend.

Re: HKS SSQV V2 vs. Synapse Synchronic BOV
Well I never thought I would say this but my authentic HKS SSQV III started acting "funny" once we went to 20 psi boost Its wierd, sometimes it sounds like its compressor surge / fluttering and then at the same psi the bov sounds loud and the way it should sound (like in the videos, etc.) - it does this very randomly and all I can think of is the bov ... might get this Synapse and try it out...
Hmmm maybe I should try a different vacuum port ?? I got it hooked up right where the 3 side by side outlets are on my H22A intake mani (near the tb) ... just thinking lol... I'm also thinking how that RFL bov would sound with 20 psi lol - wake the neighborhood up much? lol.

As for the RFL BOV, you'll punch yourself later if you buy it because of the seizing piston, annoying sound etc. Oh, you may think you like it at first, but every RFL owner I've known since it came out in 02 has sold it or even thrown it in the trash due to its issues and annoyances.

Yes, you need a slightly better vacuum source to maintain consistency for any BOV that you have in this case.

Hmmm interesting .... ok Shodan I will give it a shot at a different source later today and see what happens

my real or fake hks bov was having the compressor surge sound as well. i took it apart and put some rubber dressing on the seals so they didnt stick anymore and put it back together. works great now.

Re: HKS SSQV V2 vs. Synapse Synchronic BOV
So.... while were on this bov topic I just upgraded from a Vortech bov (yes i know a supercharger bov) to Tial 50mm Q bov. While it looks great and performs just as well, I'm not at ALL satisfied with the way it sounds. I'm kinda disappointed I upgraded :/. IN NO WAY AM I TRYING TO BASH ON TIAL, I just dont like the way this bov sounds (personal opinion) so I might sell to a friend and pick up a Greddy type S bov. With that being said, whats the max boost the Greddy bov can handle? And is there any other bov's that sound like the Greddy? I just love the sound it has at the end, and thats one primary reasons i went turbo just because of the way the bov sounds when it blows off lol

Re: HKS SSQV V2 vs. Synapse Synchronic BOV
Nothing sounds like the old GReddy Type S any more, since they were officially discontinued in 2004, for the RS and higher pressure RZ versions. The Type R (I still have one now) is at 47mm and is the largest GReddy has to offer.
The Vortech BOV used to sound pretty good on the older Rev-Hard kits from '02-'04, so I don't think anyone here is going to knock it (except maybe TiAL, because he can get evil at times). So there's also the HKS Race BOV that's been out that I've seen quite a few people use with great success.
