This is above your pay-grade. This is where a special Helicoil kit needs to be purchased so that it goes deep into the stud hole. This is where a professional comes in. Do not pass go, and expect to pay over $200.

But when its done, it'll be stronger than stock.. I had one of these happen to me recently, as I had torqued too many times over the years. You may also consider time serts, but a deep helicoil will work.

If he doesn't know from checking, then he shouldn't be doing anything to this block at all. you can measure from head stud itself.. This alone means that you shouldn't be touching this, this time.

If you have any more "friends", "buddies", "homies", "dudes", "peeps", "dunnies", "cousins", "brothas'.. or any other people that are not a professional in doing this, you'll have a useless block.. period.

Clarification for the OP. This was an attempt at utilizing Federal employee terminology in conjunction with it being above your level of knowledge and expertise of a particular subject matter. In this case, helicoil.

Definition of "Paygrade".
The process of assigning a job to an appropriate pay grade involves job information, job evaluation, and market considerations. Pay grades may be established by federal state laws, which vary by state for public employees.

Some of the factors that are relevant to a job evaluation include:
■Experience
■Education
■Complexity of Duties
■Communication with Others
■Budgetary Responsibility
■Freedom of Action (level of independence)
■Direction of Others (supervisory responsibility)
■Working Conditions/Physical Effort

Im getting it professionally done. Getting timesert instead now. "I" myself have done 4 helicoils on my last motor. I just forgot the size. I own my own business and dont have the time to do it anymore. I make more than a doctor so like i said price doesnt matter, Ive done everything on my own on my last cars. Welding roll cages, fabrication, welded my own turbo manifold that was on my 650whp eg. I know what i can do and what i cant do, and i know my friend knows what he is doing if i didnt i would of done it myself, but thanks for you help.
